Description:
Sardargarh Fort was constructed from 1738 to 1743 by Sardar Singh one of the most powerful Dhodihais. The Forts overall architectural style is grand, but still it strikes you with a solemn austerity. Understandable, since it was build for military reasons, it is fortified with massive ramparts, and giant circular bastions with battlements. Huge entrances and gateways, concentric walls and imposing arches, domes and vaulted spaces, textured facades, jharokhas (balconies) and cannons complete the picture of medieval military ambience. Temples, gardens, bath aria, granaries, residential suites, audience halls, pavilions, water works, watch towers, armories, treasuries and mint dungeons are spread out across three lakh square feet with courtyards. The fort still retains its medieval underground infrastructure - passage systems, rooms, halls, granaries and stores, open today to guests of the Hotel. The Hotel offers a breathtaking view on all sides. To its north is the enthralling view of the Lake. The Darbar Hall offers a charming vista of the village. And looming over the horizon is the imposing Aravalli Hill Range.

Begun in 971, the temple complex was built by the Guhila (later called Sesodia) dynasty of Mewar, in honor of their presiding deity Eklingji, a form of Lord Shiva. The beautifully sculpted temple complex includes 108 temples within its high walls. The main temple, which dates to the 15th century, was rebuilt from the ruins of an earlier destroyed temple. The walled complex is made of marble and granite and has an enormous double-storied, elaborately pillared hall or "mandap" under a vast pyramidal roof, with a four-faced image of Lord Shiva in black marble. Another temple in the complex is the Lakulish Temple; built in 971, it is the only temple of the Lakulish sect in the whole of India. Continue to Sardargarh fort.

Description:
The Oberoi Rajvilas is, quite perfectly, the India of our imagination with all her beauties distilled and dusted down, plus the conveniences and the luxuries that only a modern mind could dream of. It is built with exacting detail, recreating a traditional Rajasthani fort setting surrounding an 18th century Shiva temple rising out of a lotus strewn pond. Carved elephants rear at entrances, and fountains glitter lavishly with hand painted blue tiles. With Jaipur as its backdrop, the hotel recreates the magnificence of princely Rajasthan in a beautiful fort setting with 54 rooms, 14 luxury tents and 3 villas with private pools clustered around private courtyards. Most rooms have large four poster beds and sunken marble baths overlooking private walled gardens. Airconditioned luxury tents have embroidered interior canopies, old style baths and outdoor decks. Interiors of the Royal Villa highlight the fine craftsmanship and attention to detail that distinguishes the hotel.

Five-Star Hotel
