Dinner: Enjoy a welcome dinner at the hotel with introductions to fellow participants and your group leader/concierge. The group leader will act as your primary resource in making the most of independent study time, offering local knowledge and insider tips to ensure you discover Quebec City beyond the city's highlights.

Evening: After dinner, stroll through the streets of the Old City to the famous Château Frontenac with local interpretation from your group leader. Form your first impressions of Quebec and discover the city.

Morning: Start the morning with an informative lecture on Quebec highlighting the city's foundation and exceptional geographical location as well as its present-day social and economic facets. This first activity will allow you to understand how Quebec City's history contributed to the creation and development of Canada and why the city was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. After the lecture we'll get fitted for our bikes and head off on our first bike ride to the Montmorency and the famous Montmorency Falls (15 miles round trip).

Lunch: Enjoy lunch at Manoir Montmorency featuring area specialities. Bon appétit!

Afternoon: On return after the bike ride, explore the lower part of Old Quebec near the river and enjoy Petit Champlain, one of the most appreciated neighborhoods in Quebec City, known for its architecture, street performers, boutiques, craftsmen, art galleries and the Museum of Civilization. 5:30 - 6:30 Cocktail in a local bistro with the group leader (Dutch treat).

Dinner: After meeting for cocktails at the bistro (optional) dinner is on your own to explore the varied and exciting Quebec City dining opportunities

Evening: After dinner, free time to discover the city.

Morning: This morning we will ride a multipurpose trail along a former railway line for cyclists and pedestrians called Le Corridor des Cheminots. This paved path, which is part of the Route Verte and the Trans Canada Trail, crosses lovely landscapes in the Québec City boroughs, connecting the neighborhoods of Limoilou, Charlesbourg, Les Rivières and La Haute-Saint-Charles to Wendake Village.Wendake, the Hurons Village, is an exceptional Aboriginal discovery. On the Wendake section we'll see decorative plantings representing the family clans of the Hurons-Wendat and in Wendake we will take a guided tour of the Traditional Huron Site (culture, art and lifestyle). (22 miles r/t).

Lunch: Lunch in a local Wendake Restaurant.

Afternoon: In the afternoon, you can explore the famous Plains of Abraham, a magnificent 267-acre urban park composed of plains, woods and gardens. It is also the setting for the National Fine Arts Museum of Quebec. Discover this exceptional museum dedicated to the works of the best artists of the region at your own pace, continuing on to its surprising annex, the former prison of Quebec, home today to a remarkable and imposing collection of Inuit art. 5:30 - 6:30 pm Cocktail hour in a local pub (optional).

Dinner: After meeting for cocktails at the local pub dinner is on your own to explore the varied and exciting Quebec City dining opportunities.

Evening: The evening is free to stroll the Old Town or enjoy coffee and a digestif in a cafe or bar.

Morning: 9:00 am First this morning meet a professional who has been involved for several years in Quebec's political scene at a government level and who will situate you more firmly in the social universe of present day Quebec to help you understand its health and educational systems, its nationalist leanings and the challenges that lie ahead for the province. It's a meeting that will surely spark some rewarding discussions among participants. 10:30 am We'll embark on a ride that takes in both shores of the St Lawrence River. Ride along the waterfront where we will visit part of the Old Port of Quebec. Continuing along the Saint Lawrence where the lumber trade occupied the entire riverfront, we'll be riding on the unique PROMENADE SAMUEL DE CHAMPLAIN. The bike path leads us across the historical Quebec Bridge. On the south shore, ride on a quiet and scenic road; enter a small typical French village with its charming colourful homes. Discover part of Levis riding along a beautiful scenic bike path. We'll take our bikes on the ferry back across the river (10 min. crossing) with panoramic views across the majestic Saint Lawrence River to Old Quebec City. (20 miles r/t)

Lunch: Lunch will be on your own. The group leader will reccomend a local restaurant.

Afternoon: After returning to Quebec City we will drop off our bikes at the outfitter before returning to the hotel. This afternoon continue exploring Quebec City (UNESCO World Heritage Site) and what is known as New Quebec. A list of suggestions for individual exploration and other activities will complement the program. Options include a walk on La Promenade des Gouverneurs which runs along the Citadel Walls and leads to Battlefields National Park and a visit to the Public Market.

Dinner: Farewell dinner at a renowned restaurant in Old Quebec for its local gastronomy

Evening: Enjoy the evening with new found friends or take the chance to revisit a favorite cafe

Breakfast: On our final morning we will enjoy breakfast together with our Quebecer friends at their favorite local bakery in Old Quebec for a final discussion of city life and local issues over coffee and croissants.
