Description: This new hotel's location is the most historic on the Mississippi River. The spot is where the Mississippi River meets the ancient Natchez Trace. This overland route, now a national parakway, links Natchez, Miss.,444 miles northeast to Nashville, Tenn. The hotel, located near a 200-foot bluff overlooking the Mississippi River, offers nearby views of the river, including dramatic sunsets. Afternoon: 3 p.m. Registration in the hotel lobby. At 3:30 p.m. is a Welcome-to-Natchez session. At 4 p.m. is a program about the history of Natchez. At 5 p.m. is complimentary wine in the lounge.

Dinner: Dinner will be at the hotel.

Evening: Immediately after dinner, participants will go across the street to the Convention Center for a Christmas Cabaret, a festive annual event with drinks, decorations, and professional musical entertainment.Participants will enjoy a fabulous Christmas musical entertainment by professionals.

Day Two: Saturday, December 07 - Programs about Natchez architecture and Christmas...
Programs about Natchez architecture and Christmas customs. Tour of Christmas-bedecked Rosalie, Dunleith and Stone House mansions. "Chopin and Champagne," a concert with bubbly. Christmas parade, fireworks and "A Natchez Christmas Carol" at Little Theatre

Breakfast: A full breakfast is served every morning beginning at 6:30 a.m. in the hotel dining room.

Morning: Programs about local architecture and Christmas customs. Tours of Rosalie mansion and Dunleith mansion, both decorated for Christmas in the mid-19th-century style.

Lunch: Lunch will be at The Castle on the grounds of Dunleith mansion, where garlands of Christmas greenery cheer everyone.

Afternoon: "Chopin and Champagne," a classical piano concert with commentary at Stone House, decorated for Christmas, followed by bubbly. Complimentary wine before dinner.

Dinner: Dinner will be at the hotel.

Evening: At 6 p.m., witness the annual Christmas parade with marching bands, decorated floats, and more. Afterward, enjoy fireworks over the Miss. River. Then attend "A Natchez Christmas Carol," a show inspired by Charles Dickens' famous story but set in Natchez, all at the Natchez Little Theatre.

Day Three: Sunday, December 08 - Program on Eudora Welty's story in Natchez at Chr...
Program on Eudora Welty's story in Natchez at Christmastime. Tour Stanton Hall. Lunch at Carriage House restaurant. Tour of five private homes decorated for Christmas. Attend Christmas concert at St. Mary Basilica performed by Alcorn State U. choir.

Breakfast: Breakfast will be in the hotel dining room beginning at 6:30 a.m.

Morning: Program about Eudora Welty's short story, "A Worn Path," set in Natchez at Christmas 1940. Optional: attend a church service in one of the historic downtown churches. Tour National Historic Landmark Stanton Hall, a magnificent mansion decorated in the mid 19th-century period.

Lunch: Lunch is at the famed Carriage House restaurant on the grounds of Stanton Hall, noted for its huge, lighted Christmas tree.

Afternoon: Guided tours of five private homes, decorated for Christmas, all part of the annual Library Tour of Homes. Refreshments at one of the homes.

Dinner: Dinner at historic Bowie's Tavern near the river, decorated for the season.

Evening: Annual crowd-pleasing Christmas concert by the Alcorn State University Choir, a group that entertained in Washington, D.C., at President Obama's first inauguration. Concert to be held in historic St. Mary (Catholic) Basilica.
