Close [ x ]
Easy
For people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
Moderate
These programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
Active
For people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately Challenging
For hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
Challenging
Get ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Door County Coffee and Tea / Inn at Kristofer's Cooking Demo / Fish Boil / Evening Activity
Breakfast:
Buffet at 7:30 am in the resort restaurant. The hotel owners are Swedish so you'll find Swedish pancakes almost every morning on the buffet.
Morning:
FIELD TRIP: Board our bus for a 30-minute ride south to the community of Carlsville and DOOR COUNTY COFFEE AND TEA CO. Established in 1993, this small family-owned business still roasts coffee the old-fashioned way, in small batches to exacting specifications. They use the finest Specialty Class 1 Arabica coffee beans grown throughout the world, and roast in a fluidized-air bed roaster which they believe is the best in the industry. It produces a wonderfully even, perfect roast each and every time. See the roasting process, enjoy a cup of coffee or tea with a home-made bakery treat and receive a packet of coffee to take home.
Lunch:
Plated lunch at 12:00 pm at The Inn at Kristofer's in Sister Bay. One of Door County's premiere fine dining restaurants, the Inn at Kristofer's offers sweeping views of the waters of Green Bay and the bluffs of Sister Bay through floor to ceiling windows. Enjoy seasonal menus featuring locally grown produce. The restaurant has been featured in The Chicago Tribune and Midwest Living Magazine.
Afternoon:
Join Guest Chef Terri Milligan in the cooking school upstairs for an EXCLUSIVE COOKING DEMONSTRATION of dishes you enjoyed at lunch. Learn how to re-create your Door County experience at home -- you'll receive all the recipes. If there's time at the end you might consider walking down the street to see the goats on the roof at Al Johnson's Swedish Restaurant. Return to the resort and meet at the fire pit to join the storyteller and learn about the FAMOUS DOOR COUNTY FISH BOIL, a Door County tradition. Learn the history of this unique event while watching the preparation. There may be other fish boils in the county but none of them have THE VIEW of Newport State Park. Bring your camera to catch the fiery boil over. When the fish is done we eat!
Dinner:
Buffet at 5:00 pm in the resort restaurant. Tonight the buffet features the traditional Door County Fish Boil with potatoes, onions, coleslaw, rye bread and cherry dessert. If you're not a fan of fish there will be lots of other delicious choices.
Evening:
Gather in the meeting room at 7:00 pm for an evening session on THE SURPRISING ART OF TAXIDERMY with award-winning taxidermist Mike Orthober. Don't shy away from this surprise hit!

The latest in light, portable, easy-to-use QUIETVOX listening devices are available on Road Scholar programs.* Whether you are outdoors, in a crowd or in a museum environment where speaking loudly is discouraged, a listening device makes it feel like our experts are speaking clearly and directly to you. Hear for yourself on a 2012 Road Scholar adventure!
*Please note that due to the nature of some programs, the remote location or government regulations, listening devices may not be available. If you’d like to know for sure if your program will offer listening devices, just call and ask an Advisor!
