Nestled in the heart of downtown Portland, this elegant all-suite hotel offers exceptional levels of convenience and service. Built in 1912, the building combines original architecture and features with modern comfort and is only two blocks from the city’s Max Light Railway System for easy access to the many places you will want to visit.

Enjoy a standard suite which feature a spacious living room and separate bedroom with two double beds. Each suite offers two exterior windows to allow in natural lighting. The luxury furnishings include sleeper sofa, armchair, activity table with upholstered chairs, beautiful 200 thread-count bed linens, two 42-inch Flat Screen HDTV's, alarm clock radio with MP3 connection, refrigerator and microwave oven. The bathroom features marble vanity and a tub with shower. The bath is appointed with plush white towels and a rounded shower rod for extra space and comfort.

- Walking Tour/Free Time/Happy Hour/Dinner on Your Own
Breakfast:
Buffet Breakfast at Hotel
Morning:
A local expert will lead a walking tour of downtown Portland to orient you to the city of roses. He will provide some history and fun facts--even some that the locals may not know!
Lunch:
Now that you know a bit about the city and can find a lunch spot on your own with suggestions from your Road Scholar leader.
Afternoon:
Discover the city by visiting some of the local spots as you explore on your own. Maybe it will be the Chinese Garden, the Portland Art Museum or an afternoon of books at Powells Book Store! Return to the hotel to gather with your fellow adventurers for some cocktails and hors d'oeurves. Share stories about your discoveries.
Dinner:
Dinner will be on your own to find a restaurant in this foodie town. Your Road Scholar leader will provide suggestions.

- Portland History/Explore Some More/Transfer to Ship
Breakfast:

Morning:
You will be joined by a local historian to learn about Portland's fascinating history from "Stump Town" to "The City of Roses." Then check out of the hotel, store your luggage and enjoy some time on the town.
Lunch:
Find a local restaurant to enjoy some more of Portland's specialties on your own. Maybe you could try one of the famous food carts--Portland is well known for these funky, but delicious carts with many local specialties.
Afternoon:
Meet your fellow travelers to transfer to the ship for your travels up the Columbia Gorge!

Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden
The Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden was originally developed as a test garden. The oldest rhododendron in the current garden was planted prior to 1917. There are more than 2,500 rhododendrons, azaleas, and companion plants in the garden.

Pittock Mansion
The Pittock Mansion was home to Portland pioneers Henry and Georgiana Pittock from 1914 to 1919. During the late 1800s and the early 1900s, their lives and work paralleled the growth of Portland from a small Northwest town site to a thriving city with a quarter million population. With its eclectic architectural design and richly decorated interior, including family artifacts, the Pittock Mansion stands today as a living memorial of this family’s contributions to the blossoming of Portland and its people.
