Day One: Sunday, June 23 - Arrival/ Check In/ Orientation 
Arrive To: Arrive at Trinity Center and get checked into your room. After you get settled in, take some time to walk our trails through the maritime forest to check out the beach.

Dinner: Join us in the dining hall to meet your fellow participants and eat some good southern food.

Evening: Welcome meeting and orientation to facility includes introductions and itinerary discussion. After business it is time for some fun with introduction and team building games.

Day Two: Monday, June 24 - Wild Animals/ Sound Exploration/ Beach Exploration 
Note: Sound and Beach classes will include walking on uneven and sandy paths. Golf Cart will be available.

Breakfast: Breakfast is at 8 am.

Morning: Time to enjoy our pool or beach.

Morning: Join a Sound to Sea instructor on a nature walk of our 62 acre preserve. Walk from the sound to the sea in a matter of minutes. As you walk be on the lookout for birds, crabs, and dolphins!

Lunch: Lunch is at 12 pm.

Afternoon: Don your water shoes and jump right into the sound habitat! In sound class a Sound to Sea instructor will take you on a fishing expedition using dip, seine, and cast nets. After we have a good haul we will take a look at our catch and identify the species we have found. Several hands on activities will help you to understand how this diverse ecosystem works.

Dinner: Dinner is at 6 pm.

Evening: This 1 ½ hour class showcases our live birds of prey. One lucky participant will get to dress up as an owl to show us all of those great adaptations. Bring your cameras!

Day Three: Tuesday, June 25 - Beach Class/ Boat Ride/ Evening Program 
Breakfast: Breakfast is at 8 am.

Morning: Join our staff naturalist for a discussion of North Carolina’s endangered sea turtles and an exploration of their fragile nesting habitat. We will get to touch a loggerhead sea turtle shell as we discuss the anatomy of a sea turtle. Then head to the beach to play some games that illustrate the difficult life of a baby sea turtle.

Lunch: Lunch is at 12 pm.

Afternoon: Climb aboard the Research Vessel Susan Hudson where you will observe first-hand the diverse species trawled from the ocean and inlet waters. You will see two common fishing techniques as a naturalist from the Maritime Museum identifies the creatures we pull up from the blue. These animals vary on each trip from the familiar to the bizarre.

Dinner: Dinner is at 6 pm.

Evening: Learn about how early settlers and Native Americans used these coastal resources as you eat wild edibles and even shoot a blow dart gun!

Day Four: Wednesday, June 26 - Aquarium Field Trip 
Breakfast: Breakfast is at 8am.

Morning: Free Time to explore our coast or rest and relax on our beach front.

Lunch: Lunch is at 12:00pm

Afternoon: Feel the spray of a mountain waterfall. Watch river otters play. Touch a stingray. Look a shark in the eye. Explore shipwrecks – without getting wet. Thousands of aquatic animals take you on a journey from the state’s grand peaks to the open Atlantic on your trip to the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores. After exploring the aquarium a guide will take you on a behind the scenes tour where you will visit food preparation areas, animal holding areas and labs, and get an overhead view of the Living Shipwreck.

Dinner: Dinner is a picnic cook out on the beach side pavilion.

Evening: Join our Sound to Sea staff at a camp fire to hear stories and songs about different ways native Americans and early settlers lived on the coast.

Day Five: Thursday, June 27 - Dissection 
Breakfast: Breakfast is at 8am

Morning: Get up close and personal to an animal found in our local waters with a scientific look at the market squid during squid dissection class.

Lunch: Lunch is at 11:30

Afternoon: Departure

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch
