Day One: Sunday, June 02
- Registration, wine and cheese reception/Orientation
Afternoon:
3:00 PM: Program registration in hotel lobby 4:00 PM: Registration for guest rooms begins. 5:00 PM: Wine and cheese reception, introductions and mini-orientation in dining room.
Dinner:
6pm: Dinner in hotel dining room. Choice of three menu items including a vegetarian option.
Evening:
8:00 PM: An Evening at the Cape May Music Festival at Cape May Convention Hall or free time. GIRSA with McDERMOTT'S HANDY- Girsa means young girl in Gaelic. This group's precocity and passion combine impressively on their self-titled debut recording, which sold out its first run of a thousand copies in less than two months. "This music is simply exquisite...these young ladies have a refreshing sound that shows a deep, abiding respect for the tradition." - Brian Conway, renowned Irish fiddler

- Lectures/Cape May Historic District Walking Tour
Breakfast:
8:30 AM: Breakfast at hotel. Choice of either a hot breakfast, oatmeal or cold cereal. Fruit, toast basket and yogurt available by request. 9:45 AM: Orientation: A review of week's programs and menu, orientation to hotel and area.
Morning:
10:45 AM: Introduction to Victorian Era and Cape May – Overviews of highlights of the history of Cape May and Victorian Era with emphasis on how the Victorians’ history and culture contributed to both Cape May’s becoming the Victorian Era Queen of the Seaside Resorts and its modern Victorian Renaissance. (powerpoint used)
Lunch:
12:30 PM: Lunch in the hotel dining room. Choice of two menu items
Afternoon:
1:45 PM: Cape May’s Victorian Architecture Talk – Attendees will learn how to identify over a half dozen major Victorian architectural styles and how Victorian architecture and interior design reflected Victorian lifestyle and philosophy (powerpoint used) 3:30 PM: Cape May’s Victorian Architecture Walk – Leisure walk covers 1 mile in over an hour.
Dinner:
6pm: Dinner in hotel dining room. Choice of three menu items including a vegetarian option.
Evening:
7:30 PM: Victorian Social History – Overview of the major changes in American culture during Victorian Era. Included are the impacts of urbanization and industrialization on ethics, morals and other social behaviors. (powerpoint used)

Day Three: Tuesday, June 04
- Lecture/Field Trip/Carriage House Tearoom and Cafe/Living History...

Breakfast:
8:30 AM: Breakfast at hotel. Choice of either a hot breakfast, oatmeal or cold cereal. Fruit, toast basket and yogurt available by request.
Morning:
9:45 AM: Victorian Etiquette & Manners – Attendees can learn the “hows” and “whys” of Victorian manners and etiquette. A brief introduction to Victorian Era and to the Emlen Physick Estate is included. (powerpoint and kit is used). 10:30 AM: Welcome to Cape May Trolley Tour – A trolley tour throughout the greater Cape May area highlighting major points of interest like the PE, LH, WWII Tower, Sunset Beach, harbor and a sampling of historic hotels and homes.
Lunch:
12:30 PM: Enjoy a traditional Tea Luncheon at Carriage House Tearoom and Cafe on the grounds of Emlen Physick Estate. Lunch includes homemade tea breads, salad, sandwiches and dessert. Following lunch, take part in the temperance debate raging in Cape May in 1899. Listen to Women's Christian Temperance advocate Jennie Wales as she battles with saloonkeeper Patrick Collins and then exercise your right to vote. This living history presentations features costumed characters from the past who welcome you into their world.
Afternoon:
2:30 PM: An Afternoon with the Physick Family – Dr. Physick brings his mother and aunt to pay a call. The ladies provide a window into the world of Victorian women, while the good doctor equally represents the masculine domain of the era. 3:30 PM: An Afternoon of Victorian Music – This music illustrates the rich variety of music of the Victorian Era from Sousa’s patriotic marches, to Stephen Foster’s minstrel songs, to the great classical works of the era, to the birth of jazz. (powerpoint used)

6pm: Dinner in hotel dining room. Choice of three menu items including a vegetarian option.
Evening:
8:00 PM: An Evening at the Cape May Music Festival at Cape May Episcopal Church or free time. NEW YORK CHAMBER ENSEMBLE “A Musical Offering for BACHcombers” Baroque comes to the Beach again, as we welcome virtuoso harpsichordist Bradley Brookshire, making his Cape May Music Festival debut. J.S. Bach: Violin Sonata in E Major; Rameau: Pièces de clavecin en concerts; J.S. Bach: Trio Sonata and Two Ricercares from “A Musical Offering”; Purcell: Incidental music to Shakespeare’s “The Tempest”; Telemann: Quartet in D Minor

Day Four: Wednesday, June 05
- Cape May Lighthouse/Lunch at hotel/Performance/Lecture
Breakfast:
8:30 AM: Breakfast at hotel. Choice of either a hot breakfast, oatmeal or cold cereal. Fruit, toast basket and yogurt available by request.
Morning:
9:45 AM: Overview of MAC – A brief description of the activities of MAC and how they have contributed to Cape May’s Renaissance. 10:30 AM: Seminar on Victorian Women I & II – Victorian women of the upper classes were idealized as wives and mothers, but sheltered from the real world in the cocoon of their homes. Learn how the clothing of the Victorian Women reflected their roles and evolved to suit an evolving lifestyle. As the Victorian Era progressed, women began to shed their cocoons, and participate fully in society. Attendees will learn about the forces, movements and dozens of individuals involved in the evolution of Victorian women and their lifestyles. (powerpoint and kit used)

Afternoon:
1:45 PM: The Cape May Lighthouse (Beacon) – A rich presentation on lighthouse lore with a particular focus on the Cape May Lighthouse and its history and restoration. This program is an ideal preparation for a Cape May Lighthouse climb. (Powerpoint used) 2:30 PM: Field Trip to CMLH, SB and CMPSP – After climb of lighthouse, group has approx. 30 min. to visit museum, Hawkwatch Platform and Overlook at CMPSP. Group then goes to Sunset Beach for approx 45 min. to search for CM diamonds, look at concrete ship and shop.
Dinner:
6pm: Dinner in hotel dining room. Choice of three menu items including a vegetarian option.
Evening:
7:30 PM: Victorian Vices – A look at the underside of Victorian culture including topics like sexual behavior, drug addiction, obsession with physical beauty and use of bogus elixirs and cure-all potions. (powerpoint used)

Day Five: Thursday, June 06
- Seminar on Victorian Women/Living History Performance
Breakfast:
8:30 AM: Breakfast at hotel. Choice of either a hot breakfast, oatmeal or cold cereal. Fruit, toast basket and yogurt available by request.
Morning:
9:45 AM: Free time to explore Cape May.
Lunch:
12:30 PM: Lunch in the hotel dining room. Choice of two menu items
Afternoon:
1:45 PM: Victorian Spiritualism – The Victorian Era was a golden age for monsters, ghosts, spirits, séances and belief in the paranormal. This program shows the many aspects of Victorian Spiritualism and why the Victorians were so willing to believe in the other side. (powerpoint used)3:00 PM: The Ghosts of Cape May – Cape May has a history of psychic activity. It has attracted physics and ghost hunters and generated volumes on the spirits who inhabit the town. This illustrated lecture discusses that activity and the methods used to detect ghostly presence. (powerpoint used) 4:00 PM: Tales of Olde Cape May – Specially trained costumed storytellers relate brief and unusual tales of incidents from history of the Cape May area. Some of them deal with: pic-nics, pirates and buried treasure, Sousa, the great fire, etc.
Dinner:
6:00 PM: Dinner at the Merion Inn. Choice of three menu items.
Evening:
8:00 PM: An Evening at the Cape May Music Festival at Cape May Presbyterian Church or free time. The program features the Bay-Atlantic Symphony under the baton of Maestro Jed Gaylin with guest soloist Max Zuckerman, guitar. Antonio Vivaldi: Concerto for Guitar RV 93 in D Major; Heitor Villa Lobos: Concerto for Guitar and Small Orchestra, A501; Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Symphony No. 29, K.201

- Performance/Graduation
Breakfast:
8:30 AM: Breakfast at hotel. Choice of either a hot breakfast, oatmeal or cold cereal. Fruit, toast basket and yogurt available by request.
Morning:
9:30 AM: John Philip Sousa is the graduation speaker and will talk about his fascinating life and his times. The presentation is richly illustrated and full of interesting information about America's March King. John Philip Sousa is a living history reenactor and life long musician, who even plays the helicon, the forerunner of the Sousaphone and today's tuba. Afterwards, review final exam questions, collect evaluations and distribute diplomas. Open forum with participants to discuss program, review additional offerings.11:00 AM: Final exam, graduation and farewells.
