The College Inn is located in the heart of the historic district in St. George, six blocks from Dixie State University's campus. The historic district offers restored pioneer homes and buildings. This facility is used specifically for Road Scholar and other educational groups it is not used as housing for college students. St. George has beautiful red rock cliff and lava rock mesa as back drop with larger mountains and rock formations that can be seen in the distance. A lounge area with couches, DirecTV, a refrigerator, soda pop machine, guest laundry and microwave are available for your use. We also have a beautiful heated pool and hot tub for your enjoyment. The rooms do not have phones or televisions, but a public phone is available at the front desk.

Day Two: Tuesday, September 03
- Snow Canyon State Park, Historic St. George Tour, and Birds of Prey...
Snow Canyon State Park, Historic St. George Tour, and Birds of Prey Presentation.
Breakfast:
7:00 - 8:00 am - Enjoy a continental breakfast at the College Inn which includes hard boiled eggs, hot oatmeal, cereal, fruit, yogurt, pastries, toast, milk & juice.
Morning:
8:00 am - Geology class in College Inn Meeting room. Begin your discovery of Zion's precipitous canyon walls & massive monoliths, Bryce's thousands of spires, and spectacular Grand Canyon. This presentation highlights the geologic forces that shape these landscapes. The field trips, trail side talks and on-board discussions during the rest of the program will give additional knowledge of these compelling natural wonders. Depart for a field trip to Snow Canyon State Park. This park provides incredible scenery of red rock cliffs, rolling mounds of petrified sand dunes and lava (basalt) rock formations.
Lunch:
Lunch at Red Rock Cafe. Choose between food stations to include fresh salad bar, sandwich bar, home "cookin", pizza, Asian grill, and BBQ grill.
Afternoon:
1:00 pm - Visit Dinosaur Discovery Museum and view some of the oldest and best-preserved Dinosaur tracks in the world. 3:00 pm - Return to College Inn for a short class by Dr. Douglas Alder. He'll share area history and take us to restored pioneer buildings and homes.
Dinner:
5:30 pm - Enjoy a buffet dinner at Chuck-A-Rama.
Evening:
7:00 pm - Gather in the College Inn class room to see up close and personal a live falcon, hawk, and golden eagle. Martin Tyner, a federally licensed eagle falconer, presents his amazing "Birds of Prey".

In addition to wonderful surroundings, the hotel is a convenient location to access three National Parks: Zion to the West, Bryce to the North, and Grand Canyon to the South as well as Glen Canyon National Recreation Area / Lake Powell to the East and Pipe Springs National Monument to the west. - Zion National Park
Breakfast:
7:00 - 8:00 am - Enjoy a continental breakfast at the College Inn which includes hard boiled eggs, hot oatmeal, cereal, fruit, yogurt, pastries, toast, milk & juice.
Morning:
8:15 am - Check out and depart for Zion National Park! Enjoy explorations led by our expert geologist, trailside talks and walks. Zion National Park unveils its eight layers of sandstone, displaying what has taken two-hundred-million years to carve and mold. This spectacular corner of Utah is a masterpiece of towering cliffs, deep red canyons, mesas, buttes and massive monoliths. Hike Emerald Pools, one of Zion's sweetest signature trails. Generously endowed with breathtaking scenery, waterfalls, and pools.
Lunch:
Box lunch on the Trail.
Afternoon:
Continue our geology field trip as he hike the River Walk trail. This 2-mile round-trip stroll begins at the farthest end of Zion Canyon, in a natural amphitheater called the Temple of Sinawava. The well-traveled path ends where Navajo Sandstone walls close in and water is forced into the narrow walls of the world renowned Zion Narrows. After the hike we'll visit Zion's Human History Museum and enjoy the various displays and artifacts. Travel about 30 miles south from Zion National Park to Kanab and check into hotel.
Dinner:
Dinner at Houston's Trails End Restaurant.
Evening:
7:30 pm - Geology Class in the hotel meeting room. This will prepare for our field trip to Bryce Canyon National Park.

Morning:
8:15 am - Depart for Bryce Canyon National Park. One of America's most scenic destinations, Bryce Canyon National Park is a magical land, a place of inspiration and spectacular beauty where thousands of intricately shaped rock formations stir the imagination as they stand silent watch in their colorful cathedrals. Hike Bryce Point to Sunset Point.
Lunch:
Ruby Inn's Cowboy Lunch Buffet to include roasted chicken, fish, pork, vegetables, potatoes, rolls, salad bar with a variety of fresh greens, prepared salads, fruits & vegetables, soup, and dessert bar.
Afternoon:
Continue exploring in Bryce as we hike down into the Canyon on the Navajo Loop trail. The Navajo Loop Trail descends from Sunset Point through the slot canyon of Wall Street, where 500 to 700-year-old Douglas Firs reach upward toward the sunlight at the top of the canyon. The Navajo Loop is the most popular trail in the park, and is often combined with the Queen's Garden Trail to form a longer loop that passes through the Queen's Garden and emerges onto the rim at Sunrise Point. From here two very scenic and easy strolls can be taken as part of the Rim Trail. Return to Kanab.
Dinner:
Enjoy a delicious Western Dutch Oven Dinner at Chuckwagon Cookouts. Includes salad, cowboy biscuits, dutch-oven potatoes, roast beef, dessert, coffee, tea, or fruit punch.

- Grand Canyon North Rim
Breakfast:

Morning:
8:00 am - Checkout & depart for Grand Canyon National Park's North Rim. Upon arrival we'll take a short hike out to Bright Angel Point which places us on the edge of a vastness of scenery, time, and opportunity. The view confirms the tremendous uplift that has occurred, leaving the canyon’s North Rim 1,000 feet higher than the South Rim.
Lunch:
Lunch at the North Rim Lodge Dining Room. Dining in this historic Lodge is truly a memorable experience. They take pride in utilizing only the freshest and healthiest ingredients and offer organic products including delicious salad greens and pastas. The lunch buffet includes a full assortment of daily pastas with alfredo, marinara, or bolognese sauces, shredded parmesan cheese, fresh baked garlic rolls, chilled organic field greens and complementing salad toppings and dressing. Also your choice of organic-fair trade-shade grown coffee, tea or a fountain drink.
Afternoon:
After lunch we'll hike Transept Trail which takes us along the rim through a majestic Ponderosa Pine Forest with multiple Canyon overlooks. Return to St. George.
Dinner:
Enjoy a Grand Buffet at Chuck-A-Rama. Choose from a variety of fresh salads, homemade dinner rolls, barbecue ribs, baked or fried chicken, roast beef, sliced turkey breast, mashed potatoes & gravy, peas, green beans, corn, scones, assorted beverages. Save room for dessert, apple pie, cakes, cobbler, brownies, and soft serve ice cream or yogurt.
