Description: Located in the pristine forests at the base of Slide Mountain, the Frost Valley YMCA features nearly 7,000 acres of meadows, ponds, cascading waterfalls, and world-renowned trout streams, creating an idyllic background. The East Valley Lodge at Frost Valley is a lovely renovated home situated in a beautiful field just a few feet from the East Branch of the Neversink River. The East Valley Lodge deck, right off the dining room, looks directly over the Neversink River.

Day One: Sunday, June 09 - Check-in/Orientation
Afternoon: Checkin begins at 4:00 PM in the East Valley Lodge dining room.

Dinner: Conclude the day's travel with warm welcome to the East Valley Lodge and a delicious selection of wholesome entrees. Dinners may include salmon steaks, tofu milano, or other tasteful choices. Side dishes may consist of garlic mashed potatoes, rice pilaf, tortellini, or sautéed fresh vegetables. Enjoy coffee, homemade desserts and conversation around one of our three fireplaces.

Evening: Introductions and an orientation to the East Valley Lodge and Road Scholar program in our cozy and comfortable living room.

Fishing on some of the most famous fly-fishing rivers in the United States

Breakfast: Fireside breakfast served in East Valley Lodge dining room. Typical morning meals consist of assorted fresh fruit, local farm raised eggs, oatmeal and cold cereals. Daily specials may include blueberry pancakes, waffles and oven omelets.

Morning: In the morning we will fish a branch of the Neversink river. The Neversink has a great variety of waters, and a lot of different spots to attract and challenge angels of any level.

Lunch: We will enjoy lunch at the East Valley Lodge. Options could include Tilipia, Roast Turkey, Sweet Potatoes or Salmon Salad, as well as fresh greens, fresh vegetables and warm bread. After lunch we will pack our dinner and head for a river further afield.

Afternoon: After lunch we will head for one of the many famous rivers that nestle in the Catskills, including the Willowemoc, Beaverkill, and Esopus. By taking our dinners, we can stay through to the evening hatch, ensuring the best fishing opportunities.

Dinner: We will sit on the riverbank and enjoy the meals we packed at lunch while we watch the river. Guests will be provided with a diverse variety of food selections to assemble their own picnic meal. Sandwich items may include deli meats, tuna, chicken salad and a choice of assorted cheeses. Fresh breads, fruits, granola and cookies are also offered.

Evening: As night falls we will return to the East Valley Lodge. Spend the evening swapping stories about the day, and snack on the fresh fruit and cheese board provided.

Day Six: Friday, June 14 - Fishing
Breakfast: Fireside breakfast served in East Valley Lodge dining room. Typical morning meals consist of assorted fresh fruit, local farm raised eggs, oatmeal and cold cereals. Daily specials may include blueberry pancakes, waffles and oven omelets.

Morning: Last chance to catch the big one! We will spend our final morning plying our own private waters encompassing the East and West Branches of the famed Neversink River which flows beneath the Straus Center back deck. We may also have a chance to fish our private impoundment, White Pond for trout, bass, perch, walleye and panfish. If desired we will also fly fish the smaller tributaries of the region including Biscuit Brook, Pigeon Creek for wild and native brook trout.

Lunch: Return to the East Valley Lodge for final lunch together around noon. To provide guests the ultimate flexibility in making travel planes, we will pack our lunches before the day's fishing begins. Guests will be provided with a diverse variety of food selections to assemble their own picnic lunch. Sandwich items may include deli meats, tuna, chicken salad and a choice of assorted cheeses. Fresh breads, fruits, granola and cookies are also offered. Lunch will be followed by "goodbyes" and check-out for departure by 2PM.
