Day Two: Friday, September 28 - First Impressions Deco and Dining
Breakfast: Enjoy an ample buffet at the hotel of hot and cold choices including eggs, cereals, yogurt, breakfast breads, beverages and more.

Morning: Hear a fascinating presentation, "History of Art Deco."

Lunch: Miami Spice Food Walk. Miami is known for an extraordinary range of cuisines. Each year, a host of restaurants participate in an event known as "Miami Spice" — a food festival where you can enjoy the tropical fusion of ingredients that makes this city so wonderfully out of the ordinary. Our progressive lunch will be led by Grace Della, one of Miami's foremost dining experts, and her team of epicurean experts. Learn about the history of the area as you taste a variety of dishes ranging from ethnic eateries to mom-and-pop food shops and gourmet restaurants. We'll be sitting down to sample courses at about half of the stops and otherwise savoring small bites standing and on the go.

Afternoon: Experience a field trip to Espanola Way, the Jewish Museum and the Wolfsonian Museum. Begin in the Art Deco District walking along Espanola Way. Described variously as quaint, gritty, picturesque and bohemian, Espanola Way runs the gamut from a 1920s playground for the wealthy to its legendary tales of gangsters running gambling organizations to serving as a backdrop for numerous movies and TV shows such as "Miami Vice." Today, its Mediterranean Revival buildings are filled with colorful galleries, restaurants, shops and more.

The award-winning Jewish Museum of Florida occupies two adjacent synagogues that have been magnificently restored. The original building (1929) and its successor (1936) are connected via a skylighted bistro and boast Art Deco features, a copper dome, and 80 stained glass windows. The museum presents its own and traveling exhibits; sponsors cultural and educational programs; and houses a Collections & Research Center reflecting nearly 250 years of Florida Jewish history.

The legacy of master collector Mitchell "Mickey" Wolfson, the Wolfsonian Museum explores how art and design shape and reflect the human experience. The collection contains more than 150,000 objects — including the largest collection of Art Deco items in the world — reflecting social, political and technological changes from 1851-1945. It is now a division of Florida International University, housed in a fortress-like building that once served as a hurricane-proof storage facility for wealthy "snowbirds."

Dinner: Enjoy a glamorous "Miami Spice" dinner at a local favorite in the heart of South Beach — a three-course dinner featuring local cuisine.

Evening: Dinner is accompanied by lively entertainment.

Day Three: Saturday, September 29 - Grand Lobbies
Breakfast: Enjoy an ample buffet at the hotel of hot and cold choices including eggs, cereals, yogurt, breakfast breads, beverages and more.

Morning: Explore the Art Deco Historic District on a field trip. South Beach, also known as America's Riviera and often referred to as SoBe, comprises more than 800 architecturally protected buildings in the Art Deco style that launched an architectural revolution in the 1930s. Recall personalities and events that reshaped society, architecture and even the island itself as we walk through halls and lobbies of hotels on Ocean Drive. Learn the distinctions between Art Deco, Streamline Moderne and Nautical Moderne as we encounter evocative landmarks and whimsical delights such as imaginative lifeguard stands lining the beach.

Lunch: Your free afternoon and evening begins with lunch on your own. Choose from among the many options in the vicinity.

Afternoon: On your independent exploration time, visit sites such as the Bass Museum, Holocaust Memorial, Botanical Garden, Lincoln Road and many more, or relax and sip a drink at an outdoor cafe and watch the colorful parade of people.

The Group Leader will lead an impromptu walk that you may join if you wish.

Dinner: Dinner is on your own this evening to take advantage of the many Miami Spice participating restaurants throughout South Beach. You may also join the Group Leader for dinner (optional, at your cost) at one of the restaurants nearby.
