Day One: Wednesday, February 06 - Arrival at hotel; welcome and orientation 
Afternoon: Participants will arrive at the Ramada and may check-in after 2:00 pm. We will meet at 4:00, get acquainted, and go through the week's itinerary. We will take time to answer your questions about the upcoming week, as well as teach you a few Cajun French words and Cajun English phrases to help you enjoy your stay in Cajun country. We will also have introductions, so the participants can begin to get to know each other.

Dinner: Our first dinner is usually at the hotel, but occasionally we go out to a local restaurant.

Day Two: Thursday, February 07 - Jean Lafitte Center, Vermilionville, Martin Accordions 
Breakfast:

Morning: Field trip to Jean Lafitte Acadian Culture Center to view films on the deportation of the Acadians and the Atchafalaya Basin. Time will also be spent in the Center's museum.

Lunch: Lunch at La Cuisine de Maman, the café at Vermilionville.

Afternoon: A lesson in capuchon making (special Mardi Gras hat) and guided walk through the folk life village at Vermilionville.

Dinner: Deano's Pizza - Pizza with a south Louisiana twist.

Evening: Field trip to Martin Accordions to learn about accordion making and to be treated to a jam session by the Martin Family Band.

Breakfast:

Morning: Cajun Dance Lessons - Learn the Cajun Waltz and the Cajun two-step from a local Cajun couple.

Lunch: Local restaurant, TBA.

Afternoon: Class - Learn all about the unique rural Cajun Mardi Gras, also known as the Courir de Mardi Gras and the chicken chase Mardi Gras!

Day Four: Saturday, February 09 - Rural children's Mardi Gras in the morning, Lafayette city Mardi Gras...

Breakfast:

Morning: We'll depart early for the rural town of Church Point, where we'll observe children, aged toddler to fourteen, learn how to participate in a chicken chase!

Lunch: Local restaurant.

Afternoon: Class: We'll watch a fascinating documentary film, "J'ai Été au Bal," which explores the history and evolution of Cajun & Zydeco music.

Dinner: Delicious poboy sandwiches from Olde Tyme Grocery.

Evening: Rural Mardi Gras in the morning, city Mardi Gras at night. We'll watch one of Lafayette's city parades, catch some beads, see some sights!

Day Five: Sunday, February 10 - Courir de Mardi Gras and Pont Breaux's Cajun Restaurant 
Breakfast:

Morning: Back to Church Point to see the costumed riders dance, beg for money, chase chickens, and throw some beads! It's a sight you will ONLY see in south Louisiana. This activity will take us into the early afternoon. Lunch will be later than usual.

Lunch: Local restaurant.

Dinner: Mulate's

Evening: After graduation at the hotel, we'll go out for dinner & dancing at Mulate's, a favorite Cajun restuarant and dancehall, featuring live Cajun music.

Day Six: Monday, February 11 - Breakfast 6:00 - 9:00. Departure after breakfast.
