Morning: 9:30-11:30: Art of the Eternal City -- Rome: Some of the world's greatest art resides in Rome, from the time of the Caesars to the Renaissance. We look at the paintings -- Roman wall paintings, the catacombs, Rafael and Michelangelo in the Vatican -- and sculpture and architecture.

Afternoon: 12:45-5: Bus trip to Bay Area points of interest TBA

Dinner: 5:30

Evening: 7-9: The Religious Traditions of the West: The worldview of western religious thought will be explored in the religious communities of Zoroastrianism, Judaism, Christianity and Islam. While not suggesting any sort of homogenization, these are enormously diverse traditions, each carry common threads of belief and practice. We will attempt to provide a rough and ready morphology for these western religious traditions.

While Europe set the tone early in the century for rebellion against time honored traditions, artists in the United States soon took a leading role in a global artistic evolution. Discussions will focus on developments in classical music in world capitals that include Paris, Vienna, New York, Moscow and Mexico City.

Join us for a compelling examination of the life and times of 32nd President of the United States (1933–1945).

Bay Front trailThere is the Bay Front trail, excellent for walking or jogging, along San Francisco Bay right in front of the hotel, with fabulous views of the Bay and four-acre park and lagoon. Trail features a small fishing pier at the far end of the hotel's parking lot, for scenic views or angling. Many bird-watching opportunities!
Hiller Aviation MuseumSix miles from hotel. The museum’s 53,000 sq. ft. complex consists of a main exhibit hall, an entrance atrium, 35-seat theater, 50-seat conference center, and gift shop. The Restoration Shop, with its large picture windows, allows the visitor to witness the ongoing restoration process. Collection includes 50 aircraft exhibits: Vintage and futuristic aircraft, prototypes, photographic displays, and models are on display.
