Afternoon:
CHECK-IN: Please arrive at the hotel to register between 3:00-5:00pm. Check into your room with the front desk and then register with Program staff in the Main Lobby. You then have until 5:00pm to settle into your room.
Dinner:
Diner will be at a nearby restaurant
Evening:
ORIENTATION: After dinner will have our orientation. This will provide you with information about the hotel, program itinerary, instructors, venues and onsite staff. We will ask you to introduce yourself to the group. This is also a good opportunity to ask questions. Following orientaion we will have our first program which will be an introduction to the area and events of the week.

Yale Center for British Art/The International Festival of Arts & Ideas/Evening Program A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM Bristol Old Vic/Handspring Puppet Company
Breakfast:
Breakfast: 7 a.m.- 9:00a.m. The hotel provides a deluxe American breakfast buffet each morning. Breakfast includes scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, homefries, waffles, cereal, fresh fruit, juice and coffee.
Morning:
PRESENTATION:This morning we will have a presentation by one of the museum staff at the Yale Center for British Art and will then have a guided exploration of the exhibits. Presented to the university by Paul Mellon (Class of 1929)‚ the Yale Center for British Art houses the largest and most comprehensive collection of British art outside the United Kingdom. The collection of paintings‚ sculpture‚ drawings‚ prints‚ rare books‚ and manuscripts reflects the development of British art‚ life‚ and thought from the Elizabethan period onward. The Center offers a year-round schedule of exhibitions and educational programs‚ including films‚ concerts‚ lectures‚ tours‚ and special events. It also provides numerous opportunities for scholarly research‚ such as residential fellowships. Academic resources of the Center include the Reference Library and Photo Archive‚ Conservation Laboratory‚ and Study Room for examining works on paper. An affiliated institution in London‚ the Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art‚ awards grants and fellowships‚ publishes academic titles‚ and sponsors Yale’s only credit-granting undergraduate study abroad program‚ Yale-in-London.

PRESENTATION: Meet with Bitsy Clark, New Haven Alderman, and gain an understanding of New Haven and Yale's inimitable town-and-gown relationship.
Dinner:
Enjoy dinner on your own at one of the many lovely, ethnic and culturally rich resturants in the Downtown area. Then meet up with the group at the evening performance.
Evening:
This evening we enjoy a performance of dance or theatre provided by the Festival of Arts & Ideas. A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM Bristol Old Vic/Handspring Puppet Company In this new collaboration from the team behind the Tony Awardwinning, Broadway & West End smash, WAR HORSE, Shakespeare’s inexhaustible A Midsummer Night’s Dream unfurls in a new adaption interweaving the lives of lovers, actors, friends, foes, and fairies.

Yale University Art Gallery/International Festival of Arts & Ideas/Performance KRONOS QUARTET with WU MAN

FIELD TRIP:Enjoy guided exploration at the Yale University Art Gallery. The mission of the Yale University Art Gallery is to encourage appreciation and understanding of art and its role in society through direct engagement with original works of art. The Gallery stimulates active learning about art and the creative process through research, teaching, and dialogue among communities of Yale students, faculty, artists, scholars, alumni, and the wider public. The Gallery organizes exhibitions and educational programs to offer enjoyment and encourage inquiry, while building and maintaining its collections in trust for future generations.

Afternoon:
PRESENTATION: This afternoon we enjoy a lecture, film or panel discussion provided by the Festival of Arts & Ideas.

PERFORMANCE: This evening we enjoy a performance of dance or theatre provided by the Festival of Arts & Ideas. KRONOS QUARTET with WU MAN One of the most celebrated musical ensembles of our time, The Kronos Quartet has pursued a singular artistic vision of fearless exploration, expanding the range and context of the string quartet. Kronos’ Festival performance launches its 40th Anniversary season, and include special guest Wu Man, the much-admired Chinese pipa player.
