Easy
For people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
Moderate
These programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
Active
For people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately Challenging
For hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
Challenging
Get ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

- Discover the rich history of our island. Through a series of lectures...
Discover the rich history of our island. Through a series of lectures and field trips, participants will explore the island's natives, archeological digs, civil war years, black history and more.
Breakfast:
Everything from breakfast pastries and fresh fruit to "make your own Belgian waffles."
Morning:
Discover the original inhabitants of Amelia Island, the Timucua. Their civilization once spanned from South Georgia to Cape Canaveral, but sadly their time was cut short by the wars, slavery, and diseases brought by the Europeans. Afterward, delve into the field of archeology and learn about what's been found in our area and how they find it.
Lunch:
Lunch at one of Fernandina's fine restaurants.
Afternoon:
Fernandina has a rich African American history as well. Amelia Island briefly held the dubious title of the capital of the illegal slave trade. It would later become an important recruiting ground for escaped slaves to become Union soldiers during the Civil War. The first battle found by black soldiers took place just outside of Fernandina in 1864. Discover the many notable events in black history that took place in our area.
Afternoon:
Explore Old Town, the original Fernandina. Believe it or not, the town of Fernandina actually packed up and moved in 1853. See the site and learn the story behind the move to "new Fernandina". Afterward, experience Fort Clinch, a Civil War era fort on the north end of Amelia Island. Complete with cannons, Union soldiers, miles of nature trails, Fort Clinch is one of Florida's flagship state parks.

Dinner at one of Fernandina's fine restaurants.

See the wilder side of Amelia. Experience our non-human inhabitants and vast natural beauty that our area has to offer.
Breakfast:
Everything from breakfast pastries and fresh fruit to "make your own Belgian waffles."
Morning:
Amelia Island is the nesting grounds for several species of endangered sea turtles. Discover more about these elusive creatures and what's being done to protect them. Afterward, experience the wilder side of Florida as Ranger Allan Hallman of the Florida Wildlife Conservation Commission discusses some of Florida's more unusual inhabitants.
Lunch:
Lunch at one of Fernandina's fine restaurants.
Afternoon:
Explore Kingsley Plantation, one of the last surviving indigo plantations in Florida. Anna Kingsley, a freed slave, ran the plantation for many years. A slave-holder herself, Anna was a major economic force in the region for many years. Afterward, discover American Beach. Purchased by the Afro-American Life Insurance Company, American Beach was one of only beaches where blacks could vacation in the Jim Crow South. A double-edged sword, integration spelled the end of American Beach's appeal, but the area is still an active African American community where Luis Armstrong and Cab Calloway once frequented.
Afternoon:
Meet John Broadbent (played by Sam Boyd) on of Amelia's historically colorful characters.
Dinner:
Dinner at one of Fernandina's many fine restaurants.
Evening:
Discover what goes bump in Fernandina after dark. Part history, part ghost story, explore Fernandina's paranormal activity while enjoying more of its Victorian charm.
