Afternoon: Field Trip "The Bird Park": The Bird Park at Iguazu Falls combines eco-tourism and preservation. Walk through a trail in native woods with an opportunity to spot more than 900 tropical birds of 150 species. This unique park allows visitors to get in the aviaries and get close to the birds. Among other attractions, there is a butterfly cage, a hummingbird aviary, and a reptile sector.

Morning: Explore the Argentinian side of the falls at Devil's Throat. The train brings you to the entrance of Devil's Throat, as well as the upper and lower trails. The Paseo Garganta del Diablo is a 1-kilometre-long (0.6 mi) trail that brings the visitor directly over the falls of the Devil's Throat, the highest and deepest of the falls.

Day Five: Monday, March 11 - Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Breakfast: Breakfast at the hotel

Morning: Field Trip “The Secrets of Old Rio and Sugar Loaf”: Depart from the ship after breakfast to visit the most famous landmarks of the Rio de Janeiro, and to witness the natural beauty of the city from the top of Corcovado. After a scenic drive along Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, arrive at the bottom of Corcovado. Embark on a comfortable train that ascends the mountain, where the statue of Christ the Redeemer is located 2,300 feet above sea level. The Christ statue was recently elected one of the “7 New Wonders of the World". Upon arrival at the top of Corcovado, you may use the panoramic elevators or escalators to arrive at the foot of the statue. At the feet of the famous statue of Christ, enjoy a panoramic view of Rio de Janeiro and discover why it is called the "Marvelous City".

Lunch: Lunch at Confeitaria Colombo, one of the most famous delis in Rio

Afternoon: Continue your field trip: Continue on a unique walking tour revolving around the legends and stories woven around the narrow streets and old historical buildings of downtown Rio. Visit several of Rio's points of interest such as the Sao Bento Monastary, Candelaria Church, Praca XV, the "Travessa do Mercado", Imperial Palace ('Paco Imperial'), the cultural center located in the beautifully restored Banco do Brasil, the Casa Franca-Brasil, Ouvidor Street and Goncalves Dias Street with the Traditional Colombo Coffee Shop. The walk continues on down Uruguaiana Street, Carioca Square, and up to the Metropolitan Cathedral.

The many rivers, small islands and bridges found in Recife city gives it the nickname "the Brazilian Venice". Embark the ship this afternoon.

Day Seven: Wednesday, March 13 - Recife, Brazil
Breakfast: Breakfast aboard the ship

Morning: Field Trip "Igarassu & the Island of Itamaraca": With an intoxicating blend of natural beauty, architectural wonders and inspiring history, gain insight into one of Brazi's earliest European settlements. From the pier head north to the town of Igarassu - one of Brazil's first colonial cities. This small colonial town has an historic area and is home to the oldest church still standing in the country: The Sao Cosme e Damiao Church, built in 1535. Continue on to Itapissuma, passing by a coconut farm on the way. From here you will drive to the Island of Itamaraca, home to lovely, long sand beaches and shady palms. In the center of the island, you will find the ruins of slave huts and slave estates, as well as the oldest sugar-cane refinery of Brazil. Itamaraca is home to ecological reservations with native forests, as well as the Manatee Preservation Center. You will aslo visit Fort Orange, built by the Dutchmen in 1631 and rebuilt by the Portuguese in 1654. It has a museum with archaeological pieces and information.From this vantage point you will see Coroa do Aviao- a sandbank right in the middle of the sea. Take some free time to go off on your own and explore, before heading back to the ship.

Day Eight: Thursday, March 14 - Natal, Brazil

Morning: Field Trip "Natal City with Cashew Tree Visit": Capital of the state of Rio Grande do Norte, Natal represents the easternmost tip of the South American continent, thus receiving the very first of the continent’s rays of sun each morning. This simple city boasts beautiful sand dunes whoch one can surf or ski down right into the tepid waters of the Atlantic Ocean! Natal was founded in 1599 and shows its long Colonial past in a series of churches, museums and fortifications. Natal played an important role in the defense system of the Allies during World War II. Begin at the mark where the city was founded: Praca Andre de Albuquerque. Continue on to see the cathedral and the Potengi Palace. Next, visit the Tourist Centre where traditional local handicrafts can be found before continuing to the old Colonial district of Ribeira. See the old sea plane ramp used by the Allies during World War II and visit the Fort Reis Magos dating back to 1598 and built by the Portuguese. Magnificent urban beaches are to be seen along the Via Costeria Ave, including Ponta Negra, Barreira do Inferno, Praia do Cotuvelo, and Pirangi where the world's largest centuries old "Cajueiro" (Cashew Tree) is found.

Morning: Field Trip "Discover Fortaleza": At a local pier watch the fishermen returning to unload the catch of the day on the “Jangadas” – typical log rafts with triangular sails. Stop at the Mercado Central (Central Market) to see the delicate handmade lace and embroidery for which the region is noted. Visit to the neoclassical Cathedral, with its beautiful stained glass-windows. Enjoy a guided visit through Teatro José de Alencar, and a scenic drive via a palm-fringed beach through Aldeota, the sophisticated residential area of Fortaleza.

Day Fifteen: Thursday, March 21 - Santarem, Brazil

Morning: Field Trip "Maica - A Portrait of the Amazon Region": Begin at the dock in Santarem on board a regional boat flowing downstream towards the unusual phenomenon called the "Meeting of the Waters". This is where the Amazon and Tapajos Rivers come together. Continue to the Maica Area, which is a natural outlet of the Amazon River. This is a much smaller stream, making it easier to see the sights as the boat meanders through the flood plain. The beautiful landscape of this area shows the natural ways of the Amazon Basin. Bird watching is one of the highlights of this tour. It is common to identify many different species of birds. There is also a great possibility to see fresh water dolphins.

Evening: Alligator Spotting: Depart the Amazon EcoPark Lodge in paddle or motorized canoes, to appreciate the sounds of the jungle at night. With a little luck and good vision, you may even be able to spot small alligators called jacare, or other nightly creatures. Spot a gator, and the experienced guide will carefully try to catch it and bring it into the canoe. He will give a brief explanation of their habitat while you have the chance to see the creature up close. The alligator will then be safely released back into the river. No harm is ever done to the animals. The guide is highly experienced in this exercise and is dedicated to wildlife safety and preservation.

Morning: Field Trip "Nature Walk": This morning meet your experienced guide who has been qualified as a jungle survival guide. During a 15-minute introduction to the rain forest, learn about his experience in jungle survival as well as what you will be walking through along the trail. On the trail, enjoy a close-up view of the jungle surroundings. The guide will stop several times during the trek and will illustrate how locals construct animal traps and shelters, and how they find vines which contain drinkable water.

Afternoon: Field Trip "Monkey Forest": The center for rehabilitation and re-introduction of wild animals (known as the Monkey Forest), was created in 1991, with the intention of receiving animals which have been confiscated from illegal commerce. In this center, the animals are initially put into quarantine to be evaluated and taken care of by a team of vetenarians and biologists. With a high success rate since the start, the animals manage to reproduce naturally, creating new families and ensuring survival of the species.

Morning: Field Trip "City Tour of Manaus": Manaus is the gateway to the largest tropical forest of the planet: The Amazon Forest. Its golden age was the turn of last century, when the exportation of natural rubber made it one of the richest cities in the world. Hundreds of architects, city planners and landscape designers came from Europe and transformed the city into a European looking town, called at that time, The Little Paris of the Jungle. Drive by the custom house, prefabricated in Liverpool (England) and shipped to Manaus one hundred years ago, the clock tower (called Little Big Ben), the Cathedral and the “Palacio Rio Negro”, the private residence of a German rubber baron and later the Governor's office. Visit the lavish Opera House, entirely built with material imported from Europe during the rubber boom. Visit also the Army Zoo where more than 76 species of Amazonian animals are held in nice and clean surroundings.
