Day Three: Monday, September 23 - Herceg Novi
Breakfast: Hotel dining room.

Morning: Boat excursion on the Adriatic, where we will see such sites as Mamula, the Blue cave and Rose. If weather does not cooperate, we will visit the Monastery of Savina.

Lunch: Lunch at a local restaurant in Herceg Novi.

Afternoon: We will enjoy a guided walk in the medieval town of Herceg Novi. Founded in 1382, it was formerly known as Castel Nuovo, referring to its many fortresses. Explore the winding streets, the Forte Mare and the port of the city. Enjoy some free time before taking in a lecture on the history and present-day life of Montenegro.

Day Four: Tuesday, September 24 - Kotor / Budva
Breakfast: Hotel dining room.

Morning: Situated in front of the small but well-preserved Baroque old town of Perast are two tiny islands that are home to the St. George and Lady of the Rocks churches. Take a short boat ride and explore one of the islands. Then we have an excursion in Montenegro's coastal town of Kotor. A World Heritage Site, Kotor is situated at the head of Southern Europe’s deepest fjord, nestled at the foot of a high cliff. We explore its labyrinthine streets and piazzas.

Lunch: Lunch at a local restaurant in Kotor.

Afternoon: We explore Budva, the most popular town along the coast with an old town that dates back to the 7th and 8th centuries.

Day Five: Wednesday, September 25 - Dubrovnik
Breakfast: Hotel dining room.

Morning: We will walk through the beautiful town of Dubrovnik, a World Heritage Site. See such sites as Rector's palace, Onofrio fountain and St. Blaise's Church.

Lunch: Lunch at Restaurant Dubravka.

Afternoon: Enjoy some free time before driving back to Herceg Novi.

Dinner: Hotel dining room.

Evening: Take in a lecture on the present-day life of Croatia with a special focus on Dalmatia.

Morning: We travel to Split along the beautiful seafront, enjoying the view of the picturesque islands and the rich Mediterranean vegetation.

Lunch: We will have lunch en route at a local restaurant in Omis, along the Cetinje River.

Afternoon: As we continue our journey to Split, we visit Trogir, yet another World Heritage Site. The city of Trogir is situated on a tiny island connected to the mainland by a bridge. The city is full of rich Romanesque and Renaissance architecture.

Morning: We enjoy an excursion to Diocletian’s Palace in Split (World Heritage Site). The palace is a living showcase of 1700 years of history.

Afternoon: Free afternoon in Split. You may want to see the Gallery of Ivan Mestrovic, the best known Croatian born sculptor.

Day Twelve: Wednesday, October 02 - Novi Sad / Fruska Gora
Breakfast: Hotel dining room.

Morning: Full day excursion to northern Serbia, where we will explore the city of Novi Sad during a guided walk along the city center, and some free time. We also have the opportunity to visit Fruska Gora, a tranquil national park filled with monasteries and vineyards.

Lunch: Lunch at a local restaurant.

Afternoon: Take a walking excursion through the small town where the famous Karlowitz peace treaty was signed between the Austrians and the Turks. Visit the Krusedol Orthodox Monastery, founded in the 15th century and adorned with beautiful frescos from the 18th century. Wine tasting in the bee-keeping museum before departing for Belgrade.

Morning: We travel to Ljubljana. On our way, we will cross the rolling hills of the Dolenjska region.

Lunch: Hotel dining room.

Afternoon: A guided excursion through Ljubljana by bus and on foot. We will explore the diplomatic area of the city by bus, and walk through the charming downtown to appreciate its unique character designed by the famous architect, José Plecnik.

Dinner: Dinner at a local restaurant.

Croatian History MuseumLocated in a beautiful 18th-century Baroque palace, this museum houses more than 140,000 artifacts from the cultural and national heritage of Croatia from the Middle Ages to the present day. Everything from stone monuments to fine art, and religious artifacts to heraldry is on display.
Croatian Museum of ArchitectureFounded in 1995, the museum holds a collection of about 18,000 copies of various archival materials including plans, drawings, models, photographs, slides, correspondence, and other documents related to the history of Croatian architecture.
