While all of our learning adventures offer extraordinary value, our "Best Value" programs were rated by our participants themselves who thought their dollar went particularly far.
Close [ x ]
Easy
For people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
Moderate
These programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
Active
For people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately Challenging
For hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
Challenging
Get ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Morning:
Field trip to Cumberland Island. Ferry to Cumberland on a 45-minute ride aboard the Cumberland Queen. A 3.5 mile hike on Cumberland Island takes you across the sandy paths where trees form an umbrella for your hike. Continue over a wooden boardwalk and onto the sandy white beaches for a breathtaking view of the Atlantic Ocean. Box lunches are provided. The walk will take you from the shaded paths of the maritime forest to the brilliant sunlight of the pristine beach. Wild horses, armadilla, raccoons, and birds wait your arrival. A naturalist will go along to inform you about the flora and fauna of the island. Seining nets allow you to collect specimens from the ocean which you will identify. Collect shells and take back for a classroom shell identification program one night. There are bathrooms located on the island. This is a national seashore and the island is protected. There are no stores or commercial establishments on the island...no vehicles except the park rangers. Cumberland only allows 350 guests per day. You are invited to join us on the experience of a lifetime. We'll take our bathing suits for a swim and a cooling off time.

Shrimp Trawl/Jekyll Island/Sea Turtle Center/Boneyard Beach/Free Evening
Breakfast:
Breakfast located in lobby area.
Morning:
Come along for a shrimp trawl on a real shrimp vessal. Boat into the Atlantic Ocean where you will seine for shrimp or for whatever comes up in the nets. We always bring up a few sharp, stingrays, shrimp and all kinds of fish. Your guide on-board will tell you all about boating and shrimping. Boat trip is about two hours long. Lunch afterwards will be on Jekyll Island or another selected location. Bring sunscreen. There is some shade on the vessal for those who cannot take the sun. It is a very nice trip that moves up and down the intracoastal waterway and goes out into the ocean, which provides a constant breeze. This is a very popular and informative trip. Don't miss it!
Lunch:
Lunch at a popular restaurant on Jekyll Island.
Afternoon:
We will head for the Georgia Sea Turtle Center on Jekyll Island. You'll learn all about sea turtles in the museum and then you will visit the sea turtle hospital for injured and distressed turtles. Afterwards, Grandparents will board a trolley for a tour of the historical district of Jekyll Island to explore the cottages of the millionaires and see the famous and historic Jekyll Island Hotel where the elite gathered. It is a beautiful island with huge live oaks that are hundreds of years old. The trolley tour takes you to the main points of interests. Enjoy this gorgeous island owned by the state of Georgia. It is a full long day of exciting adventures in learning. The Kids will go to Boneyard Beach. The north end of Jekyll Island is sinking. Although sufficient open sand remains at low tide, each high tide brings the Atlantic into the maritime forest of live oak and slash pine. The result is a boneyard beach scattered with a skeletal testament to coastal change.
Dinner:
Held in hotel meeting room.
Evening:
After a long day Grandparents and kids are free to enjoy the pool or relax.

Breakfast:
Breakfast is located in lobby area.
Morning:
Explore Fort Clinch with an interpretive guide. Involves walking around the fort. You may climb to the highest point that overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. Your guide is one of the best reenacters anywhere. Even if you try to get him out of the character of a soldier, you won't be able to. He is the best! The fort is located near your hotel and on Amelia Island. It sits right on the ocean and you'll learn why its location was so critical in the war. This is another favorite thing to do for both kids and grandparents!
Lunch:
Catered meal in hotel meeting room.
Afternoon:
Spend the afternoon at the beach, visit the historic village of Fernandina Beach, or just take a nap and rest...I doubt it. There is so much to see and do in the area. We'll help you decide. The beach is right across the street from your hotel.

- Okefenokee Swamp Trip/Summer Cook Out/Ring Shouters
Breakfast:
Hotel breakfast located near lobby.
Morning:
You will travel to the Okefenokee Swamp by chartered bus. The ride will take approximately one hour to the swamp. The swamp awaits you with a closer look on the boardwalk that is about one mile from start to finish into the swamp. At the end of the boardwalk is a tower that you may walk up to get a higher up look at the swamp and its surroundings. It gives you a close up view of the swamp and the animals in their natural environment. One time we got to see an alligator while we were walking out on the boardwalk and another time we spotted a baby black bear crossing the swamp prairie land. You'll learn more about the prairie land when you go into the swamp by boat. Next you'll visit an old homestead and see the implements used to farm and garden beside the swamp. You'll learn about the feeding habits of the alligators and even hear their nighttime calls. Keep your fingers and toes in the boat. We've never lost any yet but there's always a first time!
Lunch:
Lunch at the swamp.
Afternoon:
Continue Okefenokee Swamp Excursion.
Dinner:
Held in hotel meeting room.
Evening:
See a performance by Griffin Lotson and the nationally acclaimed Gullah/Geechee Ring Shouters. Gullah-Geechee is the traditional African culture brought to America by African slaves who worked the fields and plantations along the coasts of Georgia, Florida and the Carolinas. The ring shout is a traditional slave-day expression of spirituality and community. Griffin has traced his ancestral roots before slavery to Africa.
