Arrive To: Check into hotel room, then at meeting room (posted on readerboard in lobby) any time between 4:00-5:00 pm to pick up program materials and name tag.

Afternoon: Hosted reception at 5:00 pm; welcome and discussion of agenda 5:30-6:00 pm.

Dinner: Dinner in our private dining room at 6:00 pm.

Evening: Introductions of all attendees, short snapshot of Seattle.

Day Two: Monday, August 27 - Exploring Seattle--the Chittenden Locks, Dungeness crab for lunch,... 
Exploring Seattle--the Chittenden Locks, Dungeness crab for lunch, the Olympic Sculpture Park and the Pike Place Market. An evening lecture on Mt. Rainier.

Breakfast: Buffet breakfast in the hotel restaurant. Enjoy scrambled eggs, pancakes, cold/hot cereals, fruit/ juices, assorted breakfast breads, bacon/sausage, potatoes, toast, yogurt, coffe/decaf/tea.

Morning: Learn about the history and operation of the Pike Place Market in an illustrated lecture.See Seattle Art Museum's Olympic Sculpture Park, on the shores of Elliott Bay. Narrated ride on chartered coach to Ballard Locks, where a Corps of Engineers interpreter will lecture on the history of the Locks, then lead a walk of the botanical gardens, locks and fish ladder. Travel through scenic Seattle neighborhoods on the way to lunch.

Lunch: Lunch at a waterfront restaurant known for its Dungeness cracked crab and other local seafood choices. Enjoy clam chowder, Fisherman's stew, hot sourdough bread and tossed green salad before the crab arrives.

Afternoon: Travel a few blocks to the Pike Place Market for a guided walk of some of the hidden treasures of the Market, with time to explore on your own. Walk the three blocks to the hotel with the group or take more time to explore the Market.

Dinner: Buffet dinner in our private dining room.

Evening: Illustrated lecture by a local geologist on the beauty and the volcanic potential of Mt. Rainier.

Day Three: Tuesday, August 28 - Mt. Rainier visit--Longmire, Paradise, Narada Falls. 
Breakfast: Buffet breakfast in the hotel restaurant.

Morning: Travel by chartered coach to 14,410' Mt. Rainier. At a rest stop on the way we'll choose our lunches from a local deli. Take time to explore the historic national park buildings and walk the Trail of the Shadows at Longmire. see lovely Narada Falls. Expect to spend 2.5 hours each way on this Mt. Rainier trip.

Lunch: Unpack your picnic lunch at the Visitor Center at Paradise, elevation 5500 feet, or choose your meal from their lunch counter, which features hot soups, sandwiches, salads, beverages and desserts.

Afternoon: Walk trails in the meadows on your own and choose from a number of hikes.Browse the Visitor Center's interpretive displays on the natural and human history of the mountain and its breathtaking surrounding peaks. Look through its excellent gift shops. Visit Paradise Inn, a vintage National Park lodge.

Dinner: We'll return to the hotel for a relaxing dinner after the drive home from Mt. Rainier.

Evening: No evening program tonight. We have a busy day tomorrow!

Day Four: Wednesday, August 29 - Visit Tacoma's interesting museums--The Washington State History... 
Visit Tacoma's interesting museums--The Washington State History Museum, Union Station and the red-hot Museum of Glass.

Breakfast: Buffet breakfast in the hotel restaurant.

Morning: Travel by chartered coach to Tacoma, 45 minutes south of Seattle, to visit the fascinating Washington State History Museum and the extensive Chihuly glass exhibit in historic Union Station. Marvel at the beautiful glass art as we walk across the Chihuly Bridge of Glass.

Lunch: Enjoy a tasty lunch in a brewpub noted for its great food.

Afternoon: Follow a docent or stroll at your own pace through the current displays at the acclaimed Museum of Glass, then observe glass artistry in the making at the Museum's ampitheatre-style hot shop.

Dinner: The remainder of the evening is free after we return to Seattle about 5:00 pm. You are on your own for dinner this evening.

Day Five: Thursday, August 30 - Stroll the historic Victorian town of Pt. Townsend; hear great... 
Stroll the historic Victorian town of Pt. Townsend; hear great stories from a local guide. Relax over a delicious seafood dinner.

Breakfast: Buffet breakfast in the hotel restaurant.

Morning: Our motorcoach will drive aboard the ferry as we cross Puget Sound to Bainbridge Island. We'll drive through the Scandinavian village of Poulsbo and cross the Hood Canal Floating Bridge on our way to picturesque Victorian Pt. Townsend on the Olympic Peninsula. Explore Water Street's many shops, bookstores and cafes, located in historic brick buildings.

Lunch: Lunch in one of Pt. Townsend's many excellent cafes. Some are on the water, others in old houses, others feature organic, vegetarian or ethnic meals. Fresh seafood abounds.

Afternoon: Re-board the coach to hear from a knowledegable and entertaining local guide about Pt. Townsend's colorful history. Visit a "gingerbread" Victorian mansion, the old-time commander's house at Ft. Worden and more.

Dinner: Travel back across Puget Sound by ferry to Edmonds for a leisurely dinner in a highly-acclaimed waterfront seafood restaurant on the way home.

Evening: Plan to arrive back at our hotel by 9:00 pm. Good night!

Day Six: Friday, August 31 - Up the Space Needle's glass-fronted elevator to the 360-degree... 
Up the Space Needle's glass-fronted elevator to the 360-degree observation deck.

Depart From: Program ends after the morning's activities.

Breakfast: Buffet breakfast in the hotel restaurant.

Morning: View a video of the 1962 construction of the Space Needle before we ride the monorail to the Seattle Center and the glass-fronted elevator up to the observation deck of the landmark structure. Stay as long as you like, spotting many of the places we've visited this busy week in the upper left-hand corner. Our program concludes at this point. You may linger at the Seattle Center or return to the hotel with the group on the monorail. Thank you for coming to Seattle!
