Morning: Enjoy a leisurely walk through the streets of downtown Portland with a local expert who will show you the special art and architecture of the city. See and learn tidbits many Portland residents may not even know!

Lunch: With a menu that changes weekly, lunch at Wildwood Restaurant brings you the best the Pacific Northwest has to offer. Most of the ingredients in their tasty meals can be found within miles of the restaurant.

Afternoon: Over the past decade, Portland has become one of the most important food cities in the country. Learn from a food industry expert how and why Portland grew its food culture from regular suburban fare into a food lover's mecca with a focus on locally grown and sustainable sources.

Dinner: Portland has more microbreweries within its city limits than any other city in the world. At the Bridgeport Brew Pub, you'll learn the history of microbrewing and see, taste and smell various steps in the brewing process. You'll enjoy a glass of the final product over dinner at the pub, which is one of Portland's hot spots.

Evening: Back at the hotel, a local expert will expand on Portland's public art scene, including sculptures, fountains, murals, paintings, photography, and other public expressions of creativity thanks, in large part, to the "Percent for Art" program that funds it.

Morning: All day field trip to Mt Hood/Columbia Gorge. Nestled midway to the summit of Mt. Hood is Timberline Lodge, a National Historic Landmark. Constructed of mammoth timbers and native stone in 1937, Timberline Lodge stands today as a tribute to the rugged spirit of the Pacific Northwest. Explore this beautiful lodge with a forest service park ranger. Travel the Columbia Gorge and hear about its history through a local expert.

Lunch: Gourmet lunch at Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood.

Afternoon: Travel to Hood River, wind surfing capital of the world! It is also known for growing luscious apples, pears, cherries, peaches and other fruits, and for its view of the majestic snow capped peak of Mt. Hood. Continue your travels through the Columbia Gorge and hear about its history through a local expert. A visit to the area is not complete without a visit to its breathtaking waterfalls. Multnomah Falls is the second highest year-round waterfall in the United States. Enjoy the spectacular beauty of this scenic area.

Afternoon: Walk to Portland's Old Church which has been a Portland landmark since its completion in 1883. The building is no longer used as a church, but as an unique community building. Listen to a concert as you marvel at its stained glass windows and other details.

Visit Portland's Art Museum, the oldest art museum in the Pacific Northwest, which has amassed a diverse collection numbering over 35,000 objects and works of art since its founding in 1892.

From the art museum, hop on the Portland Streetcar for a ride to the Pearl District. A local guide will ride with you and share his intimate knowledge of the colorful history of Portland's "street scene." Your guide will take you on a walking tour through "the Pearl". This eclectic mix of trendy retail shops, art galleries, restaurants, parks and housing in one of the country's largest urban renewal districts was once Portland's industrial center.

Morning: Spend the morning exploring two exceptional gardens in Washington Park. Founded in 1917, Portland's International Rose Test Garden is the oldest official, continuously operated public rose test garden in the United States. In the beginning, even though World War I was raging in Europe, hybridists sent roses from around the world to Portland?s garden for testing and to keep the new hybrids safe from being destroyed by the bombing in Europe.

The primary purpose of the garden is to serve as a testing ground for new rose varieties. The City of Portland Gold Medal Awards are issued annually to the best introductions. See these roses in bloom and enjoy the lovely views of downtown Portland.

Nestled in the scenic west hills of Portland, the Japanese Garden is a haven of tranquil beauty. The garden includes a formal Japanese Tea House, meandering streams, intimate walkways, and an unsurpassed view of Mt. Hood. Enjoy the peace and tranquility.

Lunch: Back downtown, you'll be treated to another fabulous meal with amazing views of the city from the 30th floor of Portland's second tallest building, the US Bancorp Tower, locally referred to as "Big Pink".

Afternoon: Spend the afternoon exploring the Portland Classical Chinese Garden. The Garden's mission is to cultivate an oasis of tranquil beauty and harmony to inspire, engage, and educate our global community in the appreciation of a richly authentic Chinese culture. See this wonderful garden placed within a one block area inside Portland's China town. You will be transported into a little piece of China.

Dinner: After a break back at the hotel, you'll head out to experience the up and coming trend of supper club dining at Abby's Table. Chef Abby, along with other local craftsmen, will answer all your questions about sustainable food sourcing while you savor a unique Portland menu.
