Morning: Theme of the day: Moscow and the Moscovites today: City highlights (by motorcoach) covering the history and architecture of Moscow. Stops are made at important Moscow landmarks: Spend time in Red Square - the spiritual center of Russia, see the GUM department store, and St Basil's Cathedral (view the exterior only), drive to the site of the Moscow University, stop at the Novodevichi Convent, visit ithe Cathedral of Christ the Savior (inside visit), and see many other important sites. A ride on the Moscow metro (if desired). Note: Driving to all listed sites are subject to time restriction due to heavy city traffic.

Lunch: Time for lunch on your own in the city during a stop over.

Afternoon: Atternd a Lecture on: "The current state of US-Russia Relations" as presented by a Russian diplomat and university professor.

Theme of the day: Moscow and the Moscovites (cont). Visit Moscow center for the arts and crafts/Lecture on Russian national character/ the Tetyakov Picture gallery/ evening performance

Breakfast: At hotel

Morning: Drive to the Moscow Center for the Russian national tranditions and ethnic arts and crafts. See the museum and hear an informal presentation on the revival of Old Russian traditions and on the collection of regional crafts from many corners of Russia displayed in the museum and the show rooms. Attend a presentation on Russian national character as it is depicted in Russian classical literature' ( by a U. professor). .

Lunch: Lunch at the restaurant in the Center (Russian specialties)

Afternoon: An educational visit to the Tretyakov Picture Gallery, housing a unique collection of Russian art (presented by an expert on Russian art).

Dinner: Dinner at hotel or city restaurant

Morning: Theme of the day: Moscow as the capital of medieval Russia. An educational expert led visit to the Kremlin compound: see the grounds and cathedrals. Visit the Armory Chamber, housing a rich collection: royal jewels including the famous Faberge eggs, and other treasures of the Russian tsars (all presented by a licensed expert).

Lunch: Lunch on your own in the city

Afternoon: Afternoon is free in the city center. Consider an independent visit to a museum of your choice.

Morning: An expert led visit to the to the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts: view the rich collection of the Old Masters and the Impressionists, as well as a special collection of 'Schleimann's Gold' treasures.

Lunch: On your own in the city

Afternoon: A Field trip to the Glinka Museum of Russian musical heritage. A presentation on Russian musical heritage and musical traditions delivered by a music specialist and a museum curator.

Dinner: Dinner at hotel or city restaurant

Day Seven: Wednesday, September 05 - A motor coach transfer Moscow-Sergiyev Possad -Vladimir-Suzdal 
Breakfast: At hotel in Moscow

Morning: Hotel check-out. Depart on a 4-day travel through the Golden Ring towns of Sergyev Possad, Vladimir-Suzdal, Kostroma, and Yaroslavl . During a transfer to Sergiyev Possad hear a presentation on Russian Orthodox church (expected driving time 2-3 hours). Have a walk with a local expert, enjoy the grounds and learn of Sergiyev Possad - the official seat of the Russian Orthodox church.

Lunch: In restaurant in Sergiyev Possad

Afternoon: Continue your travel to the town of Vladimir, have a short city excursion where you will see the Cathedral and the famous Golden Gate, dating from 1164; after dinner in Vladimir continue on to Suzdal for an overnight ( travel time from Sergiyev Possad to Vladimir 3-4 hours).

Dinner: Dinner in restaurant in Vladimir

Evening: After dinner travel to hotel in Suzdal for overnight. Travel time from Vladimir to Suzdal is about 45 minutes). Late evening arrival. Hotel check-in. Rest.

Morning: Excursion of Suzdal led by a licensed expert. See magnificent medieval architecture reflected in numerous churches, monuments, towers and domes. Walk through the Monastery and learn about its history.

Lunch: In a restaurant in Suzdal

Afternoon: After lunch, drive to from Suzdal to Kostroma (travel time approx.3 hours), enjoy the beautiful countryside. In Kostroma have a motorcoach city drive to learn about its rich history. Hear of Russia's turbulent medieval era known as the 'Time of Troubles', drive by the Ipatyev Monastery, the birthplace of the Romanov Dynasty which ruled Russia for over 300 years.. After dinner in Kostroma travel to the town of Yaroslavl. (expeted travel time about 1 hour).

Morning: Spend a full day in Yaroslavl. Learn of the rich history, medieval architecture, and modern life of Yaroslavl during a morning city excursion led by a local expert. Visit the Church of Elija the Prophet and learn of the Spassky Monastery.

Lunch: Time for lunch in the city

Afternoon: Free afternoon in the city.

Dinner: At hotel restaurant

Room amenities: 1st class 2 passenger compartments are reserved. No single compartments. They are rather small (approx 70 sq feet) but quite comfortable for an overnight travel. Afternoon: Attend a cultural event:" A dance at the Governor's house"(a re-anactment of a reception in the style of XIX century traditions)

Dinner: At hotel restaurant

Evening: After dinner transfer to train station for an ovenight train Yaroslavl-St. Petersburg.( travel in sleeping 2pax compartments, NO SNG, facilities on board : 2 toilets/ sinks per car) Travel time 10.30pm -11.30am.

Morning: Theme of the day: History and Architecture of St Petersburg and its literary traditons. Explore St Petersburg culture and arcitectural treasures with a city drive led by a local expert: stops are made at many famous sites and architectural landmarks: St. Isaac's Cathedral (view the exterior), the statur of Bronze Horseman, Summer Garden, St Petersburg University, and other important sites. Drive through the area depicted in the novels by F. Dostoyevsky.

Lunch: Lunch on your own in the city

Theme of the day: The Romanov Dynasty/summer residences of Russian tsars in Tsarskoye Selo and Peterhof

Breakfast: at hotel

Morning: Theme of the day: The Romanov Dynasty. On the way to Summer Residences of the tsars hear of the story of the Romanovs in St. Petersburg (presented by an expert) . Learn about the reign of Catherine the Great. See the magnificent palace in Tsarskoye Selo housing the famous Amber Room, recently recreated by Russian restoration artists. A short walk in the park.

Lunch: Lunch in a restaurant in Pushkin

Afternoon: Drive to Peterhof, the favorite summer retreat of Tsar Peter the Great. An Expert led walk in the park to enjoy the famous fountains. (Note: visits to the Grand Palace and other museums on site are not included, view exteriors only). Return to the city.

Morning: A Full day at the Hermitage museum. Enjoy a 3-hour excursion of this world famous museum, featuring rich art collections from all over the world (the highlights of the collection to be presented by an expert on the museum).

Lunch: Suggest Lunch on your own in the Hermitage cafe or in the city

Afternoon: Continue exploring the Hermitage independently, OR return to the hotel, OR spend the last afternoon in the city center -Nevsky Prospekt.

Dinner: A Special Farewell dinner.
