Check in time: 4:00 PM

Day One: Monday, November 23 - Arrive to Ft. Lauderdale
Afternoon: After arriving at the hotel, check in and get your room, then take some time to unpack, freshen up, and relax.

The Group Leader will greet everyone and lead introductions. We will review the program theme, the up-to-date Daily Schedule and any changes, discuss safety guidelines, emergency procedures, roles and responsibilities, and answer any questions you may have.

Indicated times are approximate. Program activities, schedules, and personnel may need to change due to local circumstances. In the event of changes, we will alert you as quickly as possible. Thank you for your understanding.

We have set aside some free time in the schedule for your personal independent exploration. The Group Leader will often be available during free time to accompany informal excursions, activities, or meals that have been excluded from the program cost. You are welcome to join if you like, with any associated costs on your own. In addition to lectures and field trips exclusively for our Road Scholar group, you are welcome to take advantage of the many activities and events aboard ship (most free of charge, some at extra cost) that are separate from the Road Scholar program. You will see a number of places in the daily schedule designated as free time when you can choose to do more of what you like most and create an experience that is enriching, rewarding, and memorable for you personally. The Group Leader will always be happy to offer suggestions. At our ports we will be getting on and off of the MS Prinsendam via tender or gangway. A tender is a small ship used to transfer from the deep water dock to and from shore and is often used for smaller ports.

Dinner: Enjoy a welcome dinner at the hotel and meet your traveling companions.

Evening: At leisure. Continue getting to know your fellow participants, settle in, and get a good night’s rest for the day ahead.

Day Twenty Four: Wednesday, December 16 - Willemstad, Curacao
Breakfast: Breakfast onboard.

Morning: Check out the beauty of Curaçao and learn about the natural resources it enjoys. You’ll leave town immediately and drive westward through the city and past the outskirts. Along the way, you’ll see several plantation homes and old slave houses. Your local expert will offer plenty of information. The Boka Tabla, your first stop, is a National Park. See how the wild sea meets the coast and the waves explode against wild rock formations—a testament to nature’s raw power. At West Point, snap a few photos from the coach and enjoy the beautiful view over the Caribbean Sea at Playa Forti. From here you’ll drive to the Tula Museum, located in a beautifully restored plantation house. Take in the view over the hills, the plantation and the Caribbean Sea. This museum and its docent guides offer an interactive look at how the people used to live on the island, during and after slavery. They will even sing a nice local song for you—a sweet and charming addition to your day. The next stop is at the most beautiful tropical beach on the island, with its unforgettable azure blue sea and stunning white beach. On the way back make the most of a short photo stop from the bus at the Jan Kok salt lakes, where you might be lucky enough to spot some flamingos.
