Day Two: Sunday, May 03 - Ferry to San Juan Island / Check In to San Juan I...
Ferry to San Juan Island / Check In to San Juan Island Hotel / Presentation on Contemporary Life In the Island

Breakfast: Extensive breakfast buffet served in hotel Conference/Breakfast Room featuring, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles, a variety of fresh fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, cereal, breakfast breads/toast, juices and coffee.

Morning: On our way to San Juan Island, we’ll visit the artfully designed Hibulb Cultural Center. The Hibulb Cultural Center and natural History Preserve has over 23, 000 square feet of exhibits and classrooms and 50 acres of natural history preserve that tell the store of the “salmon people,” the Tulalip Nation. The artifacts, carvings, art and interactive displays weave insight and understanding to the land, the people, and the culture of the many Northwest Tribal ancestors.

Lunch: We’ll have lunch in the Port town of LaConner, WA. La Conner is a waterfront village located in the heart of the Skagit Valley. With our Northwest-style lunch in LaConner, we’ll experience first-hand this quaint artistic community.

Afternoon: We'll board the WA State ferry in Anacortes, WA - on our way to Friday Harbor. Enjoy the view from the inside passenger cabins or from the outside decks as we take our 1.5 hour journey through the archipelago to Friday Harbor.

Dinner: Our dinners are served buffet style so that you choose what works for you. Tonight’s dinner features NW green salad, grilled chicken, steamed veggies, and red potatoes or rice – topped off with coffee, tea, iced tea, water and dessert of the day.

Evening: Presentation "Views from the Islands" offers an insider’s look at contemporary life in the Islands.

Day Three: Monday, May 04 - San Juan Island Excursion: San Juan South
Breakfast: Continental Breakfast Buffet served by our private caterer in Conference Dining Room featuring: a variety of fresh fruits, assorted hot/cold cereals, assorted breakfast breads (toast, English muffin, bagel, etc) cottage cheese, boiled eggs, coffee, tea, juice.

Morning: A Wildlife Rehabilitation expert begins our morning with an informative presentation about the wildlife that call the San Juan Islands home. Following our presentation, we will depart for small group walking field trips to the San Juan Island Historical Museum and the Whale Museum, the nation's first museum dedicated to whales living in the wild. Docent guided expert program at both museums. (Note: This activity is repeated on day 5 to give everyone the opportunity to visit both museums.)

Lunch: Have lunch the way you like it! Lunch will be served buffet style and features a soup of the day with salad bar (including green leaf / spinach salad, a variety of fresh raw veggies, potato salad, three bean salad, and more) - topped off with coffee, tea, iced tea, and dessert of the day.

Afternoon: As we make our way to the Southern tip of the island, we’ll stop at a San Juan Island lavender farm. Then, we'll explore the Historic National Park- American Camp and learn the about the Island’s historic past and the “Great Pig War.” Afternoon free-time follows, upon our return to the hotel.

Dinner: Our dinners are served buffet style so that you choose what works for you. Tonight’s dinner features NW green salad, baked salmon/fish (as locally available by season), rice , and steamed veggies– topped off with coffee, tea, iced tea, water and dessert of the day.

Evening: Evening presentation on art in the islands - meet a local guest artist and learn about their craft and inspiration!

Day Four: Tuesday, May 05 - Orcas Island - "Creative Spirit of the Emerald Is...
Orcas Island - "Creative Spirit of the Emerald Isle" as seen from prolific art collections to salmon restoration efforts.

Breakfast: Continental Breakfast Buffet served by our private caterer in Conference Dining Room featuring: a variety of fresh fruits, assorted hot/cold cereals, assorted breakfast breads (toast, English muffin, bagel, etc) cottage cheese, boiled eggs, coffee, tea, juice. Breakfast is early on this day so that we may catch the inter-island ferry.

Morning: Board the inter-island ferry for the scenic cruise to Orcas Island. Explore the creative culture of Orcas with a field trip to private art collection showcasing works created in the San Juan's, personally guided by the owner/curator. This private residence includes a whimsical underground grotto, undersea oracle and many works commissioned as part of the Museum's architecture.

Lunch: Since we'll be out exploring, we'll enjoy a picnic/bag lunch today. Our caterer will provide whole fresh fruit, chips, bottled water, and a chef's choice fresh bakery treat for everyone. Each member of the group will build their own sandwich to their liking - choosing from an assortment of meats, cheese, breads, and condiments.

Afternoon: Field trip continues to historic farmstead, now a showcase Chinook Salmon enhancement facility seen as a benchmark for natural rearing methods in the Northwest. Cruise through the Islands aboard the ferry in the late afternoon and return to Friday Harbor, San Juan Island in time for dinner.

Dinner: Dinner on own - to sample the local fare!

Evening: Enjoy a free evening to stroll the seaside town of Friday Harbor.

Day Five: Wednesday, May 06 - San Juan Island Excursion: San Juan North
Breakfast: Continental Breakfast Buffet served by our private caterer in Conference Dining Room featuring: a variety of fresh fruits, assorted hot/cold cereals, assorted breakfast breads (toast, English muffin, bagel, etc) cottage cheese, boiled eggs, coffee, tea, juice.

Morning: Morning presentation uncovers the authentic Coast Salish Native history with particular note of Islands rich archaeological heritage. Following our presentation, we will depart for small group walking field trips to the San Juan Island Historical Museum and the Whale Museum, the nation's first museum dedicated to whales living in the wild. Docent guided expert program at both museums.

Lunch: Have lunch the way you like it! Lunch will be served buffet style and features a soup of the day with salad bar (including green leaf / spinach salad, a variety of fresh raw veggies, potato salad, three bean salad, and more) - topped off with coffee, tea, iced tea, and dessert of the day.

Afternoon: Our afternoon excursion begins at the Northern tip of San Juan Island. We start with a visit to the Historic National Park - English Camp. Then, we’ll stop in Roche Harbor, where you'll have the choice to visit either the historic Roche Harbor village (with its lovely marina and English gardens) or visit the Westcott Bay Sculpture Park (where you can view hundreds of outdoor sculptures thoughtfully placed amidst acres of quiet forests, wetlands, and meadows). We'll round our excursion out with a visit to the picturesque Limekiln Lighthouse, now an Orca whale observation outpost.

Dinner: Our dinners are served buffet style so that you choose what works for you. Tonight's dinner features NW green salad, meat or veggie stir-fry with rice - topped off with coffee, tea, iced tea, water, and dessert of the day.

Evening: Enjoy an evening presentation on island history.

Day Six: Thursday, May 07 - Lopez Island - Sustainable farming and affordable...
Lopez Island - Sustainable farming and affordable housing projects on "the friendly isle."

Breakfast: Continental Breakfast Buffet served by our private caterer in Conference Dining Room featuring: a variety of fresh fruits, assorted hot/cold cereals, assorted breakfast breads (toast, English muffin, bagel, etc) cottage cheese, boiled eggs, coffee, tea, juice. Breakfast is early on this day so that we may catch the inter-island ferry.

Morning: Hop aboard the WA State ferry and sail to Lopez Island. First, we'll visit a beautifully restored historic farm, home to a goat dairy, gardens and fruit orchard. Then we'll stop at the lovingly restored 1917 Port Stanley School house, where we'll hear first-hand about an acclaimed local organization dedicated to building a diverse, sustainable Lopez Island community through award-winning environmentally designed affordable housing, sustainable agriculture, and other dynamic and successful rural development programs.

Lunch: Picnic Lunch at the beautifully restored historic Port Stanley School House. Our caterer will provide whole fresh fruit, chips, bottled water, and a chef's choice fresh bakery treat for everyone. Each member of the group will build their own sandwich to their liking - choosing from an assortment of meats, cheese, breads, and condiments.

Afternoon: After a picnic lunch at the schoolhouse, we're off to explore the island and Spencer Spit Park. At Spencer Spit, we’ll relish the spectacular views, and savor our immersion into nature as we gain insight to the fragile ecosystems of the land. Field trip continues to tiny Lopez Village to uncover its keenly designed community layout. Take a break from your study and mingle with the friendly locals as you stroll the village during some relaxed open time. Return to San Juan Island via ferry in the late afternoon.

Dinner: Our dinners are served buffet style so that you choose what works for you. Tonight's dinner features NW green salad, prawns, and scallops (in sun-dried tomato pesto), penne pasta and steamed veggies - topped off with coffee, tea, iced tea, water, and dessert of the day.

Evening: As our program winds to a close, we celebrate the final evening with a farewell musical performance.

Day Seven: Friday, May 08 - Farewell and Departure
Breakfast: Continental Breakfast Buffet served by our private caterer in Conference Dining Room featuring: a variety of fresh fruits, assorted hot/cold cereals, assorted breakfast breads (toast, English muffin, bagel, etc) cottage cheese, boiled eggs, coffee, tea, juice. Breakfast is early on this day so that we may catch the ferry.

Morning: Depart Friday Harbor, San Juan Island via the Washington State ferry and chartered motor coach. Program concludes in Seattle with drop off at SeaTac International airport(approximately 12:30pm) or the Hilton Garden Inn Seattle/Renton (approximately 1:00) on final day of the program. We recommend scheduling outbound flights after 2:30 pm.
