Day One: Sunday, February 01 - Welcome and Orientation/Magnuson Hotel
Arrive To: CHECK IN: From 3:00 pm at the Magnuson Hotel front desk. REGISTRATION: After you have your room assignment, you will be directed to the meeting room to register with the program staff and pick up your arrival packet containing the up-to-date schedule that we will review during orientation. ORIENTATION: 5:00 pm. Meet and greet everyone in an introductory get-acquainted session. We'll then review the updated schedule and any changes, discuss responsibilities, safety guidelines, and emergency procedures and answer any questions you may have.

Dinner: Dinner at the hotel dining room

Evening: The evening is yours to begin to know your fellow participants, walk around the hotel, unpack or relax.

Marge & Gower Champion Lectures / Welcome to St. Pete bus tour / Evening Activity

Breakfast: The buffet in our meeting room features choices such as fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, pastry or breakfast bread, and hot items such as eggs (boiled or scrambled) and meat (bacon or sausage).

Morning: LECTURES: Marge & Gower Champion were an immensely popular husband-and-wife dance team who created some of the most visually stunning and groundbreaking dance scenes in movie musicals of the 1950s. With our instructor Joy Katzen-Guthrie, explore their lives and experience their dance both as a couple and individual performers.There will be a short refreshment break in mid-morning.

Lunch: Lunch is served at table in our private dining room.

Afternoon: LECTURE: Joy will continue this afternoon with more exploration into the lives of the Champions. EXCURSION: After class, board our motor coach for a "Welcome to the Neighborhood" tour of the local area.

Dinner: Dinner at the Eckerd College Continuing Education Café. The buffet at the café includes hot entrees, side dishes, salad bar, soup, deli meats, bread, fresh fruit, desserts and beverages. Self-service format with trays.

Evening: Evening activity or presentation.

Day Three: Tuesday, February 03 - Marge & Gower Champion / Reiner & Brooks / Excurs...
Marge & Gower Champion / Reiner & Brooks / Excursion to local museum / Evening activity or presentation

Morning: LECTURES: For the classes today, Joy will continue her discussion of Marge & Gower Champion. There will be a short refreshment break mid-morning.

Lunch: Lunch is served at table in our private dining room.

Afternoon: LECTURE: First brought together on Sid Caesar’s Your Show of Shows, Reiner and Brooks created some of the best skits in comedy history. With our instructor Rick Kistner, rediscover the works of these comic geniuses through lectures, stories and performance clips. EXCURSION: After class board the bus and head to the St. Petersburg Museum of History for an expert-led tour of the museum's permanent collection and the special exhibit "Imagining la Florida: Juan Ponce de León and the Quest for the Fountain of Youth." The objective of this exhibit is to commemorate the 500th Anniversary of de Leon's discovery and to spread the importance that Spain had in the discovery and in the colonial past of this state; a rich and complex history that, to an extent, is unknown by both countries. The exhibit will let visitors get to know some of the most relevant figures in this chapter in history.

Dinner: Dinner at the Eckerd College Continuing Education Café. The buffet at the café includes hot entrees, side dishes, salad bar, soup, deli meats, bread, fresh fruit, desserts and beverages. Self-service format with trays.

Evening: Evening activity or presentation.

Day Four: Wednesday, February 04 - Reiner & Brooks Lectures / Free Time / Movie Nigh...
Breakfast: The buffet in our meeting room features choices such as fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, pastry or breakfast bread, and hot items such as eggs (boiled or scrambled) and meat (bacon or sausage).

Morning: LECTURES: Learn more about the lives and works of Reiner and Brooks. Take a short refreshment break mid-morning.

Lunch: Lunch is served at table in our private dining room.

Afternoon: LECTURE: Rick will finish his lectures on Reiner & Brooks. PRESENTATION: After the lecture, your group leader will introduce you - via a power point presentation - to the many pleasures of downtown St. Pete. This introduction will give you some ideas of how you’ll spend your time during your downtown visit. The group leader can always answer your detailed questions about what to do. Spend the remainder of the afternoon enjoying the hotel's amenities.

Dinner: Dinner at the Eckerd College Continuing Education Café. The buffet at the café includes hot entrees, side dishes, salad bar, soup, deli meats, bread, fresh fruit, desserts and beverages. Self-service format with trays.

Evening: Movie Night: A film related to one of the subjects of the week.

Danny Kaye & Sylvia Fine /Time on Your Own in Downtown St. Petersburg/Evening of Musical Entertainment

Breakfast: The buffet in our meeting room features choices such as fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, pastry or breakfast bread, and hot items such as eggs (boiled or scrambled) and meat (bacon or sausage).

Morning: LECTURES: He was the actor/comedian of stage, screen, radio, and TV. She was the architect of his most famous material. They worked together for over four decades creating a series of American classics. With or instructor, writer, actor Jason Fortner, step into their lives and careers. Time for a short refreshment break mid morning.

Lunch: Lunch is served at table in our private dining room.

Afternoon: Spend the afternoon on your own. Transportation provided to the waterfront area in downtown St. Petersburg. Take what you learned earlier in the week to enjoy the many things there are to do within walking distance or local trolley ride: Museums, shops, movies, galleries, etc.

Dinner: Tonight’s dinner will be specially prepared for you by our Eckerd College chefs and served in a private setting on campus.

Evening: ENTERTAINMENT: Provided by a local artist. Enjoy a glass of wine as you say goodbye to old friends and new.

Day Six: Friday, February 06 - Kaye & Fine final classes
Breakfast: The buffet in our meeting room features choices such as fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, pastry or breakfast bread, and hot items such as eggs (boiled or scrambled) and meat (bacon or sausage).

Morning: With videos and illustrations, Jason will bring his classes to a close. There will be a short refreshment break mid-morning.

Lunch: Lunch is served at table in our private dining room. Program concludes with lunch today. Thank you for choosing Eckerd College and the Magnuson Hotel for your Road Scholar experience.
