Day One: Sunday, January 25 - Arrival and Check-in, Program Registration, Welco...
Arrival and Check-in, Program Registration, Welcome Reception and Dinner, Orientation and Bike Fitting

Afternoon: Hotel Check-in: Available from 3:00pm. Program Registration: After you have your room assignment, come over to the Road Scholar desk in the lobby to pick up your arrival packet containing your name tag, the up-to-date schedule, and to confirm the time of the welcome reception and orientation session.

Please be aware that program activities and scheduled times could change due to local circumstances. In the event of changes, we will alert you as quickly as possible. Thank you for your understanding.

Dinner: At 5:30pm, join us for a welcome reception to meet and begin getting to know your fellow participants, followed by dinner near the hote.

Evening: Orientation: The Group Leader will greet you with a warm welcome, introduce everyone, and provide key staff contact names and phone numbers. We will review the up-to-date daily schedule and any changes, discuss responsibilities, safety guidelines, emergency procedures, and answer any questions you may have.

Bike Fitting: This key activity will be the last element of our orientation session. Take the rest of the evening to relax, get a good night’s sleep, and be ready for a full day tomorrow.

Day Two: Monday, January 26 - Searching Beyond the High Rises
Note: Today's ride is 20 miles with speeds of 10-12 mph with designated stops.

Breakfast: Our breakfast at the hotel offers a selection of hot and cold items including protein, fresh fruit, coffee and tea.

Morning: On this morning’s ride, we ride through neighborhoods and encounter places where ever-changing “New” Naples meets Old Naples. We will stop at Lowdermilk Park, historic Naples Pier and ride through the beautiful, tree-lined streets of Port Royal. You will be fascinated as we stop to view Palm Cottage, the oldest house in Naples. Moving northward, we will make a stop at the Naples Depot Museum before continuing on to The Conservancy of Soutwest Florida.

Lunch: Lunch at the Conservancy of Southwest Florida

Afternoon: Listen to a lecture about the local wildlife conservation given by an expert naturalist. After weave among the mangroves and other native plants on a boat cruise up the Gordon River.

Dinner: We will dine at a local restaurant to enjoy a 3-course meal including salad, choice of entrée, and dessert.

Evening: We will meet Florida Master Naturalist, Bob Nesmith, who will bring insight into the Natural History, Hydrology and Geology of the area.

Day Three: Tuesday, January 27 - Surviving Against the Odds - The stories of Two B...
Note: Today's ride is 28 miles with speeds of 12-15 mph with designated stops.

Breakfast: At the hotel.

Morning: Now that you’ve had a warm-up day, it’s time to raise our riding tempo for a day at the beach(es)! Our bikes will wind northward through Pelican Bay, along Vanderbilt Beach and pass by North Naples. Our first destination is Barefoot Beach Preserve, an area of barrier island rescued and renewed by a group of caring volunteers. A walk there on the Saylor Nature Trail will take us through the restored habitat with side trails leading to picture-perfect views of the white sand and azure waters of the Gulf.

Back in the saddle again, we ride through the Bonita Springs beach area and over Little Hickory Pass to our next destination, Lovers’ Key State Park.

Lunch: Enjoy a picnic lunch in a shaded pavilion

Afternoon: Options: After lunch, you may choose to continue cycling through Lover's Key on the Black Island Trail or go on a beach walk with your group leader. A motorcoach will pick everyone up at an appointed time and place and we will return to the hotel with plenty of time for you to make dinner plans.

Motorcoach to Sanibel Island, Sanibel Captiva Conservation, and Sanibel Historic Village

Morning: We will board a motorcoach to take us to Sanibel Island where more than 22 miles of paths make this island a cycling paradise! This morning we will cycle to and visit the Sanibel Lighthouse. Hear about its fascinating history from Charles Lebuff who lived in the lighthouse quarters for 22 years.

Lunch: Bike to lunch at the Green House Grill

Afternoon: Bike along the Sanibel's many paths and visit the Sanibel Captiva Conservation Foundation.

Dinner: At the hotel.

Evening: At leisure.

Note: Today's ride is 28 miles with speeds of 10-15 mph with designated stops.

Morning: Low-tide bike ride & visit to Bowman Beach for a shell walk.

Lunch: Enjoy lunch at Doc Ford’s Rum Bar and Grille.

Afternoon: Cycle to the J. N. Ding Darling Visitor Center, we will cycle through this exceptional National Wildlife Refuge. You will witness the spectacular migratory bird populations and lush vegetation.

Dinner: At a local restaurant, enjoy good company and good food with a 3-course meal including appetizer, choice of entrée, and dessert.

Evening: At leisure.

Day Six: Friday, January 30 - Wrap-up Session, Program Concludes
