Program Registration: 3:30-4:30 p.m. After you have your room assignment, come over to the Road Scholar table (located inside the Road Scholar meeting room) and pick up your welcome packet containing your name-tag, up-to-date schedule, and other important information we will review during Orientation, and to confirm the time and location of the Orientation session. If you arrive late, please ask for your packet at the front desk when you check in.
Orientation: 4:30 p.m. The Group Leader will greet you with a warm welcome and introduce everyone. We will review the up-to-date daily program schedule and any changes, discuss responsibilities, safety guidelines, emergency procedures, and answer any questions you may have.
During free time, the Group Leader will be available to guide informal excursions, activities, or meals not included in the program. You are welcome to join if you wish, with any associated costs (if any) on your own, or explore independently.

Menus are arranged in advance for the program and are designed to offer balanced, healthy meals for the participants. This program offers the following choices for meals: standard, gluten-free, low fat, low salt and vegetarian. We are happy to accommodate the varying dietary needs of our group. These special meal requests should be written on your Participant Information Form and must be received at least 3 weeks prior to the start date of your program.

The China Cabin is the social saloon from the S.S. China, a side-wheeled steamer built in 1866. Commissioned by the Pacific Mail Steamship Company, the China carried mail and passengers from San Francisco to Asia. The room was salvaged when the ship became obsolete in 1879. The interior has been restored with 22k gold leaf, walnut woodwork, cut-glass floral window panes, and brass chandeliers.Dinner: At the hotel

The Buck Institute is the nation’s first independent research facility focused exclusively on understanding the connection between aging and chronic disease..
Because architect I.M. Pei believed in the mission of the Institute, he submitted a proposal to design the research facility. Pei's trademark use of varied geometric elements and floating staircases are featured throughout the research campus. The atrium is highlighted by a 75 foot-high skylight, similar to the Louvre Museum pyramid in Paris, which Pei also designed.Lunch: At the hotel
