Equipment Requirements
A day pack or fanny pack, good quality hiking boots, rain gear, sunglasses, insect repellent and sunscreen. A broad brimmed hat, walking stick or trekking poles are highly recommended and a camelback or two large refillable water bottles.

Day One: Sunday, October 04 - Check-in, Registration, Orientation, Welcome Dinn...
Afternoon: An Road Scholar registration desk will be set up near the front desk in the lobby of the hotel. A welcome dinner. After guests meet and greet there will be a hiking safety talk.

Dinner: Buffet dinner at the Inn will include; two salads, two entrées (one of which will be vegetarian), vegetables, rice, potatoes, or pasta, a fresh fruit selection, dessert and coffee.

Evening: Hiking program orientation will cover specific hike information, including preparation and safety tips.

Day Two: Monday, October 05 - Day Hike, Yoga, Cultural History
Note: Today's hike will be 11 miles round trip with over 1000 feet of elevation over rough, rocky terrain

Breakfast: Enjoy a hot or cold breakfast at the Shawnee Inn's River Room restaurant overlooking the Shawnee Inn campus.

Morning: We'll begin the week with a challenging hike to Sunfish Pond, a glacier-fed lake. The hike will be 11 miles round trip, with over 1000 feet of elevation, and will cover rough, rocky terrain.

Lunch: We will make our own lunches at the Inn before we leave in the morning. A variety of breads, cheeses, meats, condiments, fruit, snacks and drinks will be available to choose from.

We'll break for lunch on the trail, stopping at a comfortable, scenic location.

Afternoon: After lunch we'll continue with our hike before returning to the Inn. There we'll learn after-hiking yoga relaxation stretches you can practice on your own during the week. These stretches will help revitalize tired muscles after a long day on the trail.

Dinner: Buffet dinner at the Inn.

Evening: After dinner we'll have an evening lecture with a ranger from the National Park Service covering the National Park, Shawnee, the Delaware Water Gap, the Tocks Island Dam Project, Delaware River and fauna & flora.

Day Three: Tuesday, October 06 - More Strenuous Morning & Afternoon Hikes, Riversi...
Note: 11 mile round trip hike with elevation gains of 900 feet; small portions of rocky terrain and more smooth terrain

Breakfast: Start the day with a River Room buffet breakfast.

Morning: Today we'll hike 11 miles along the Fall Trail Loop. Along the way we'll see 20 waterfalls, magnificent Rhododendron blooms, woodland forests and grassy knolls. The terrain today is slightly easier than yesterday with with elevation gains of 900 feet and small portions of rocky terrain interspersed between more smooth terrain.

Lunch: We will make our own lunches prior to leaving the Inn. A variety of breads, cheeses, meats, condiments, snacks, fruit, and drinks will be provided.

We'll stop to picnic today at a waterfall.

Afternoon: We will finish our hike, then return to the Inn for a technology class with iDAN. iDAN will teach participants how to expand their knowledge with iphoneology, sharing technology tips for iPhones, smartphones, iPads, tablets etc. and discussing Facebook, Instagram and Skype to help those who would like to explore social media.

Dinner: Buffet dinner at the Inn.

Evening: A free concert on the lawn of the Inn.

Day Four: Wednesday, October 07 - Scenic Morning Hike, Free Afternoon, Naturalist P...
Note: Nature walk is 2-3 miles over easy terrain, similar to a dirt road or smooth trail

Breakfast: Healthy breakfast buffet at the River Room.

Morning: Today we will take it easy with a shorter hike focused around a nature walk with a professional naturalist. The nature walk is 2-3 miles over easy terrain similar to a dirt road or smooth trail. Along the way we'll explore the ruins of a 1930s Delaware Water Gap resort, wildflowers in eco-pools, edible vegetation, ancient trees and amphibians.

Lunch: Lunch on your own provides an opportunity to experience one of the many local restaurants. Free time activities will be suggested.

Afternoon: Free Time - Take the afternoon to explore the area on your own. Your Group Leader will be happy to provide you with suggestions for activities.

Dinner: Buffet dinner at the Inn.

Evening: After dinner we'll enjoy an evening lecture with our naturalist.

Day Five: Thursday, October 08 - Challenging Morning Hike, Free Afternoon, Farewel...
Note: Today's hike will be 11 miles round trip over varied terrain such as woodland forest trails, grassy knoll-like terrain, and rocky features.

Breakfast: Greet the day at the River Room breakfast buffet.

Morning: Today we'll embark on another challenging 11 mile hike to Stokes State Forest on the Appalachian Trail. The hike will cover a wide variety of terrain including woodland forest trails, some grassy knoll-like terrain, as well as some rocky features, similar to a waterfall without the water that will require you have to choose your footing as you move rock-to-rock for about 20 feet. Our trail will offer great views, and will take us past scenic vistas, beautiful woodlands, a fire tower, an AT thru-hiker shelter and rustic pond.

Lunch: We will make our own lunches before we leave the Inn. A variety of breads, cheeses, meats, condiments, fruit, snacks and drinks will be provided.

We'll stop along the trail in a scenic and comfortable location to break for lunch.

Afternoon: After we finish today's hike, we'll return to the Inn to relax before dinner.

Dinner: Our farewell dinner will be at the Gem & Keystone Tavern, a short walk from the Inn.

Evening: Enjoy an evening campfire at the Inn

Day Six: Friday, October 09 - Appalachian Impressions, Program Concludes
Breakfast: Buffet breakfast at the River Room.

Morning: After breakfast we'll watch a DVD featuring AT through hikers discussing their experiences on the trail. The video provides a nice capstone for the week, and includes familiar trails that we hiked during our time together, allowing you to feel a sense of personal accomplishment for your achievement this week.
