Day One: Sunday, June 21 - Check-in, Registration, Orientation, Welcome Dinn...
Afternoon: Program Registration: After you have your room assignment, come over to the Road Scholar table to register with the program staff and get your welcome packet containing your name-tag, up-to-date schedule that reflects any last-minute changes, and other important information. If you arrive late, please ask for your packet when you check in. Orientation: The Group Leader will greet everyone, lead introductions, and introduce Shawnee’s Tillinghast Golf Academy pros. We will review the program theme, the up-to-date Daily Schedule and any changes, discuss safety guidelines, emergency procedures, roles and responsibilities, and answer any questions you may have.

Indicated times are approximate. Program activities, schedules, and personnel may need to change due to local circumstances. In the event of changes, we will alert you as quickly as possible. Thank you for your understanding.

We have set aside some free time in the schedule for your personal independent exploration. The Group Leader will often be available during free time to accompany informal excursions, activities, or meals that have been excluded from the program cost. You are welcome to join if you like, with any associated costs on your own.

Dinner: In the Inn’s hospitality room, choose from a buffet offering a variety of selections including a vegetarian option and other healthy choices including fruits and vegetables from our own garden, a delightful dessert, plus water and iced tea.

Evening: Our Tillinghast Golf pro’s will further introduce us to the program and provide a Golf overview about the skills and techniques we will learn. Following the session, there will be an opportunity for Q&A’s.

Day Two: Monday, June 22 - Golf Lessons, Nine Hole Practice, Local History L...
Note: Golf carts will be used to carry equipment between holes.

Breakfast: In the Inn’s River Room, enjoy your choice of hot and/or cold breakfast selections from fruit to home-made granola, pancakes or French toast, a variety of breakfast meats, an omelette station, and more. In good weather, you may choose to dine on the verandah.

Morning: During our golf instruction sessions with our pros at The Shawnee Inn and Gold Resort, we will divide into groups and rotate between a series of learning stations. At the learning stations, groups will then be divided further for more personalized instructions.

Lunch: At the Inn, enjoy a delightful array of local foods in a buffet featuring seasonal dishes, salads, a vegetarian option and other healthy choices, as well as coffee, tea, and a truly decadent dessert.

Afternoon: With our pros, we’ll play nine holes of Shawnee’s 27-hole championship gold course while working on our skills that we learning during the mornings instruction.

Dinner: At the Inn.

Evening: We’ll be joined by a member of the National Park Service at the Inn for an interesting lecture on the cultural history of the area. Located just south of the Pocono Mountains, the land was settled by a local tribe of the Lenape Indians, who sold a portion of the land in 1727 to a settler from New Amsterdam, New York. When the village was surveyed by William Penn, his mistakenly thought the local tribe were Shawnee, and named the village after them. .

Day Three: Tuesday, June 23 - Golf Lessons, Nine Hole Practice, Riverside Conce...
Breakfast: In the River Room.

Morning: Continue our small group instruction with the Tillinghast professionals. The Shawnee golf course was built by Charles Campbell Worthington and completed in 1910. In 1912, Worthington invited professional golfers from around the world to compete on his course, which led to the formation of the Professional Golfers Association.

Lunch: At the Inn.

Afternoon: With our pros, we’ll play nine holes of Shawnee’s 27-hole championship gold course while working on our skills that we learning during the mornings instruction.

Dinner: At the Inn.

Evening: An evening concert featuring local musicians on the lawn of the Inn.

Day Four: Wednesday, June 24 - Golf Lessons, Free Afternoon, Approach Course
Breakfast: In the River Room.

Morning: Continue our small group instruction with the Tillinghast professionals. An early fixture on the PGA tour for more than 20 years from 1916 to 1937, Worthington’s course hosted the PGA Championship in 1938.

Lunch: This meal has been excluded from the program cost and is on your own to enjoy what you like. The Group Leader will be happy to offer suggestions and give directions.

Afternoon: Free Afternoon. Take this opportunity for personal independent exploration to see and do what interests you most. Please refer to the list of Free Time Opportunities. The Group Leader will be happy to offer suggestions and give directions.

Dinner: At the Inn.

Evening: We’ll play the Approach Course, also known as a Pitch-and-Putt course due to the short length of the holes – often no longer than 100 yards.

Day Five: Thursday, June 25 - Golf Lessons, Nine Hole Practice, Goodbye Dinner,...
Breakfast: In the River Room.

Morning: Continue our small group instruction with the Tillinghast professionals. Our golf course was designed by famed architect Albert Warren Tillinghast, after whom the Golf Academy is named for. Tillinghast designed more than 250 golf courses and was inducted into the Golf Hall of Fame in 2014.

Lunch: At the Inn.

Afternoon: Putting all of your new skills together, we’ll play nine holes of Shawnee’s 27-hole championship gold course.

Dinner: A short walk from the Inn at the Gem and Keystone Tavern, we’ll have a special farewell meal plus water and iced tea; other beverages available for purchase. Featuring local and all natural food, they also serve an assortment of beer from the ShawneeCraft Brewery.

Evening: Enjoy a fascinating lecture with our naturalist.

Day Six: Friday, June 26 - Enjoy a fascinating lecture with our naturalist.
Note: Hotel check-out at 11:00 a.m.
