Its worth a visit for the peaceful atmosphere that envelops you in the narrow streets. At “I Pini” is one of the biggest Picene necropolises. - Excursion to Numana known as “the queen of Conero Riviera”. Jesi was one of the last towns of the Umbri when, in the 4th century BC, the Senones Gauls invaded the area and ousted them. They turned it into a stronghold against the Piceni. Morning: Lecture , “Walled Towns and Castles – The military architecture in Veneto, Emilia/Romagna and Marche “ Guided visit of Castelfranco Veneto The town originates from a castle built here by the commune of Treviso in the course of its strife against Padua (1195). In 1246 it was captured by Ezzelino IV da Romano, returning to Treviso after his death in 1259. In 1329 it was acquired by Cangrande I della Scala, lord of Verona. Ten years later, together with Treviso, it was handed over to the Republic of Venice, to which it belonged until 1797. Castelfranco then followed the history of Veneto.

Afternoon: Visit to Villa Emo a patrician villa designed by Andrea Palladio. It is one of the most accomplished of the Palladian villas, showing the benefit of 20 years of Palladio’s experience in domestic architecture;

Day Thirteen: Tuesday, October 13 - Marostica, Bassano del Grappa
Breakfast: Breakfast at the hotel

Morning: Excursion to Marostica Visit of medieval Marostica. Marostica, born as a Roman castrum, followed the same historical destiny as Bassano, and its walled structure underwent a series of modifications. The Lower Castle faces down on the main square, where a famous “chess game” is played with living characters moving on the large chess-board drawn on the square. Excursion to Bassano del Grappa. Bassano del Grappa: the four things for which Bassano del Grappa is best known are its covered bridge over the Brenta, the strong grappa liqueur produced in the area, the military history of Monte Grappa and locally-produced ceramics. The architecture reflects Bassano's location: typical Veneto-style arcaded streets and piazzas are interspersed with alpine wooden balconies, and some of the hostelries have a decidedly Austrian flavour.

Lunch: Lunch on your own

Afternoon: Transfer to Castello di Thiene Visit the castle: the most significant XV century gothic buildings erected, for a residential reason, in the surroundings of Vicenza. Castello di Thiene is one of the top attractions in the region and combines all the characteristics of a Venetian palazzo with a medieval castle. The interiors are richly furnished and decorated with lots of antique furniture and beautiful frescoes by Zelotti and Fasolo. Also worth seeing are the beautiful stables of Veronese marble and the expansive idyllic park. Return to hotel

Dinner: Farewell dinner at the local restaurant
