Menus are contracted for the program and are designed to offer balanced, healthy meals for the participants. This program offers two choices for meals: standard and vegetarian. We are unable to customize menus for individuals. However, we have found that by requesting sauces and dressing to be served on the side, we are able to accommodate various food intolerances and allergies. Vegetarian meals must be requested in advance on your Participant Information Form. Unfortunately, there are no other special meal options. Participants with special dietary needs should be prepared to avoid certain foods or supplement the regular meal plan as needed.

“It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone." Bart Giamatti, Former President of Yale University and Commissioner of Major League Baseball
A baseball game is a complex interaction between observers and observed, perception and physical reality, hoped-for result and uncontrollable outcome. The game rests on an uneasy combination of rigid mathematical laws and wild, random chance. No wonder that the sport has fascinated us, and driven us crazy, since the late 1800’s. In this course we will examine the six basic components of a major league baseball game, and chart the evolution of these building blocks over the one hundred and twenty five year history of our National Pastime. We will discuss the contribution of one of the game’s required elements: the fans, players, managers/general managers, owners, ballparks, and the media’s role in establishing our access to the game. As we head into the World Series, we contemplate the world of baseball, America's game.Dinner: Enjoy a dinner buffet in the hotel which includes complimentary coffee and hot tea.Evening: CLASS: As American As Baseball, Part 2Lodging: Hilton SFO BayfrontMeals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Are human beings part of nature or apart from it? Different historical eras answered that question in different ways. This presentation or course looks at the idea of nature and humans in several different times and discovers what forced change. The 17th century assumed humans were meant to dominate the whole world; 19th century Americans found wonder in their world and concluded they were part of the wonder; contemporary humans seek what is left of nature. The arts can show us where to look: The Hudson River School of American painters, Claude Lorrain, Monet, Beethoven’s 6th Symphony.Dinner: Enjoy a plated 3-course dinner which includes complimentary coffee and hot tea.Evening: Musical EntertainmentLodging: Hilton SFO BayfrontMeals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
