Day Two: Friday, May 23 - JFK Lecture/Fieldtrip to JFK Library & Museum/Bos...
Note: Travel by motor coach for part of the day; ascending and descending motor coach steps. There will be walking up and down hills and on cobblestones. You will be using the subway which requires walking up and down stairs (not all stations have elevators). You will be walking and standing up to 2 miles throughout the course of the day.

Breakfast: Breakfast

Morning: Listen to a presentation about the life and presidency of JFK, Boston's local political hero by local historian. Then visit the JFK Library and Museum to explore the museum which portrays the life, leadership, and legacy of President Kennedy.

Lunch: Lunch at the JFK Museum Cafe.

Afternoon: Venture into Beacon Hill for a tour of Boston’s Athenaeum and Massachusetts State House. The Boston Athenaem is one of the oldest private libraries in the country; it was founded in 1807 as a library, art repository, natural history museum, and laboratory. Built in 1798, the State House is known for its distinct dome. It was originally made out of shingles, but to prevent leaks it was sheathed in copper and covered in 23 Karat gold. Due to group size requirements for each visit, participants will be split into two groups and visit the two sites at the same time. When each group is done with their visit, they will switch to give everyone the opportunity to observe both sites.

Day Three: Saturday, May 24 - Explore Boston's Freedom Trail/ Afternoon & Even...
Explore Boston's Freedom Trail/ Afternoon & Evening Behind the Scenes Tour of Symphony Hall/Lecture with a BSO Administrator/Instrument Demonstration with a Member of the Pops/Evening Boston Pops Concert

Note: You will be walking The Freedom Trail which is an urban walking trail, marked by a red-brick path. In addition, you will be using the subway which requires walking up and down stairs (not all stations have elevators). You can expect to walk and stand up to two hours at a time.

Breakfast: Breakfast

Morning: Enjoy an escorted walk along Boston's Freedom Trail. Visit sites crucial to igniting the American Revolution.

Lunch: Lunch in the Faneuil Hall area

Afternoon: Spend the afternoon at Boston's Symphony Hall. Enjoy a behind- the-scenes tour of Symphony Hall, and hear from an administrator about working for a world class orchesetra.

Dinner: Dinner at a local restaurant

Evening: Attend the Boston Pops Concert-- Out of This World performence. Guest conductor Sarah Hicks, makes her Boston Pops debut leading an "Out of This World" program featuring music inspired by outer space, including Holst's "The Planets" (performed alongside a NASA film), the theme from Star Trek, the clasical works popularized in 2001: A Space Odyssey, and John Williams's intergalatic music from Star Wars, E.T., and Close Encountersof the Third Kind

Day Four: Sunday, May 25 - Charles River Locks & Boston Harbor Cruise/USS Co...
Charles River Locks & Boston Harbor Cruise/USS Constitution and Charles Town Naval Yard

Note: You will be using the subway which requires walking up and down stairs (not all stations have elevators). The cruise requires you to be able to embark and disembark the boat. In addition, you should expect to stand for at least 1.5 hour for the visit of the USS constitution. In an effort to ensure the safety of all visitors to USS CONSTITUTION, visitors 18 & over may be subject to present a valid federal or state-issued photo ID at the ship's security entrance.

Breakfast: Breakfast

Morning: Enjoy a fully narrated cruise through the Charle's River Locks, and tour Boston's historic harbor. Learn about Boston's connection to the sea as you journey past the the Bunker Hill Monument and Charles town Naval Yard. Visit the USS Constitution before taking a water ferry back to the North End/Waterfront for lunch.

Lunch: Lunch in the North End/Waterfront

Afternoon: Enjoy the afternoon exploring the city of Boston on your own or cross the river to experience Cambridge, home to Harvard and MIT

Boston Art Lecture/Museum of Fine Arts/Isabella Stewart Gardner/Farewell Dinner

Note: You will be using the subway to the Museum of Fine Arts which requires walking up and down stairs (not all stations have elevators). You can expect to walk and stand at the museum up to 2 hours at a time.

Breakfast: Breakfast

Morning: Listen to a lecture by an expert on many art forms with a focus on the collections at the Gardner Museum and the MFA. Following the lecture, travel to the MFA. Use the knowledge you obtained from the morning's lecture to explore the museum's collections.

Lunch: Enjoy lunch at the Courtyard Cafe at the MFA.

Afternoon: Following lunch, travel to the Gardner Museum where you will explore the museum, including it's new wing, and get a walking presentation from an experienced docent.

Dinner: Farewell Dinner at the hotel

Day Six: Tuesday, May 27 - Massachusetts State House/Program Departures
Note: You will be using the subway which requires walking up and down stairs (not all stations have elevators). You will be walking up and down hills and on cobblestones. You can expect to be walking and standing up to 2 miles throughout the course of the day.

Breakfast: Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before you check out of your room.

Morning: Return to Beacon Hill for either a tour of Boston's Athenaeum or the Massachusetts State House. The Massachusetts State House, designed by Charles Bulfinch, the leading architect of his time, is a grand repository of history as well as an architectural treasure.

Lunch: Lunch on your own at a local restaurant. Meal vouchers will be provided.

Afternoon: Return to the hotel at your leisure to retrieve your luggage.
