Road Scholar
Program #20740RJ
6 Days | 5 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Easy
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Day One: Sunday, May 04 - Arrival & Inn Check-in, Program Registration & Or...
Arrival & Inn Check-in, Program Registration & Orientation, Shawnee Institute Campus Walk

Afternoon: INN CHECK-IN: Available from 4:00pm. PROGRAM REGISTRATION: After you have your room assignment, come over to the Road Scholar desk in the lobby to register with the program staff. You’ll receive your arrival packet containing the most up-to-date schedule and program information that we’ll review during our orientation session. If you arrive late, please pick up your arrival packet from the front desk at the Inn. Please be aware that program activities and scheduled times could change due to local circumstances. In the event of changes, we will alert you as quickly as possible. Thank you for your understanding.

Dinner: Dinner is buffet style with an eclectic flair, offering a variety of selections including a vegetarian option and other healthy choices with fruits and vegetables from our own garden, as well as coffee, tea, and a delightful dessert.

Evening: ORIENTATION: We'll have an informative overview of the program to come plus an opportunity to meet the program staff and your fellow participants. We will review the schedule, cover responsibilities, safety guidelines, emergency procedures, and answer any questions you may have. We conclude the evening with an informal walk through the lovely Shawnee Institute campus. You are about to embark on a musical adventure: reviving the Fred Waring Choral Workshop as you learn and perform some of Fred Waring's greatest hits. Fred Waring taught America how to sing through his glee club, recordings, radio shows broadcast exclusively from the Shawnee Playhouse, and television. Now it's your turn to be a part of Fred Waring's legacy. Road Scholar’s Fred Waring Choral Workshop is open to adults of all ages. While reading music is an advantage, it is not an absolute requirement, as you’ll learn the notes and turn them into music during intensive workshop sessions led by experts. The program culminates in a concert for the community.
