Day Two: Monday, September 08 - Morning Lecture and Afternoon Vistit to Lewisburg
Breakfast: Start your day with a selection of hot, fresh and healthy choices from eggs, waffles and meat to cereal, pastries and fresh fruit, juice and coffee.

Morning: This morning we meet with a local historian and storyteller who will speak on local culture, farming and folklore of the Greenbrier Valley.

Lunch: Lunch is included today at a local restaurant.

Afternoon: Visit the City of Lewisburg. A former mayor was fond of saying, "Only two kinds of people ever leave Lewisburg - those who will return and those who wish they could." In 1978, a 236-acre area in the heart of Lewisburg was designated a National Register Historic District. This 221-year-old town with many 18th- and 19th-century buildings is set amid the Allegheny Mountains and is where the steeple clock still tolls the hour and the church bells ring out on Sunday mornings. Old structures, converted to new purposes, are still in use, and antebellum homes (often remaining in the same families for generations) are still occupied. Our time in Lewisburg will include a guided exploration with a local historian and a visit to the North House Museum. Explore the lives of Greenbrier Valley residents at the North House Museum. Built in 1820, the North House was the home of local lawyer John North and his wife Charlotte for more than a decade before becoming James Frazier’s Star Tavern and Inn. At the turn of the 20th century, the North House became the President’s home for Greenbrier College for Women. The Greenbrier Historical Society has operated within the North House since 1976 and has owned the building since 1992.

Dinner: Another wonderful buffet dinner is included this evening and served at the hotel.
