Afternoon: Check-in at the hotel is at 3 p.m. and Road Scholar registration is in the lobby from 5-6 p.m. Cookies and punch will be served while you get to know your fellow participants.

Evening: During orientation, meet fellow participants and review the schedule for the week. Free time suggestions will be discussed.

Day Two: Monday, October 20 - Savannah's Historical Splendor
Breakfast: Continental breakfast

Morning: Morning lecture on the history of Savannah. Discuss the fascinating aspects of Savannah's history that shaped Southern culture.

Lunch: Lunch at a local Southern restaurant for a taste of the South!

Afternoon: Take a lesson in Savannah's history by visiting the Andrew Low House. This ornately decorated house was once inhabited by the founder of the Girl Scouts, Juliette Gordon Low. She founded the Girl Scouts of the USA in the parlor of the stately home. Afterward, relax as our professional guide paints a fascinating picture of the Historic District while we visit the charming squares known as grassy utopias.

Dinner: Catered dinner at hotel.

Evening: Evening options change weekly but may include discussion of Savannah's notable people and places.

Day Three: Tuesday, October 21 - Savannah's Historical Splendor
Breakfast: Continental breakfast

Morning: Enjoy a "visit' with Gen. James Oglethorpe. From the pages of journals, diaries and letters of that time period, Gen. Oglethorpe comes to life and relays the first years of the "Georgia Experiment."

Lunch: Lunch in the Historic District at a local restaurant

Afternoon: Accompanied by a local historian, visit the Davenport house, which was slated to be demolished in 1955. However, a group of seven determined, civic-minded ladies formed the Historic Savannah Foundation, which purchased the home and saved it and many other homes from destruction. Beautiful sites in the city will illustrate a true sense of Savannah's long journey.

Day Five: Thursday, October 23 - Savannah's Wormsloe Plantation
Breakfast: Continental breakfast

Morning: Enjoy a fascinating lecture as you continue to discuss Savannah's past and present. Its people are as vibrant today as they were during Georgia's earliest settlement.

Lunch: Catered lunch at hotel

Afternoon: Experience three centuries in one place: Colonial Wormsloe! The picturesque roadway leading though the property is lined with more than 400 live oak trees leading the way to the colonial estate of Noble Jones, who was among the first group of setters to arrive from England with Gen. James Oglethorpe. Wormsloe's tabby ruins are the oldest standing structures in Savannah.
