Day Two: Monday, September 15 - Tour of Island Including /Local Lighthouse/Lake E...
Tour of Island Including /Local Lighthouse/Lake Erie Islands Nature & Wildlife Center and Perry's Victory and IPM

Breakfast:

Morning: South Bass Island-Local Cultural History--tour by tour train, visit South Bass Island Lighthouse, the Lake Erie Islands Nature & Wildlife Center, day will be led by local history expert.

Lunch: Noon lunch at The Crew's Nest (waterfront dining).

Afternoon: Visit to Lake Erie Islands Historical Society, Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial, talk by Interpretive Staff.

Dinner: Dinner at The Crew's Nest (waterfront dining).

Evening: Lecture at historic island Town Hall on natural and cultural history topics.

Gibraltar Island/ the Ohio State University Stone Laboratory/Lake Erie Ecology

Breakfast:

Morning: Boat transportation from Put-in-Bay to Gibraltar Island, home of the Ohio State University's Stone Laboratory, the oldest freshwater lab in the US. We visit the Plankton Lab and explore the island and its buildings with OSU staff with a view of the historic home of Jay Cooke, financier of the Civil War. Enjoy a limnology science cruise on Lake Erie. Return by boat back to Put-in-Bay

Lunch: Stone Lab's lakefront dining hall on Gibraltar.

Afternoon: Visit to the Aquatic Resources Visitor Center. Enjoy a bat program with Debbie Nofzinger.

Dinner: Dinner at The Crew's Nest (waterfront dining).

Evening: Lecture at historic Town Hall on natural and cultural history topics.

Afternoon: Visit to local churches on South Bass Island and tour of Heineman's Winery and Crystal Cave.

Dinner: Dinner at The Crew's Nest (waterfront dining).

Evening: Lecture at historic Town Hall on natural and cultural history topics.

Breakfast:

Morning: Ferry trip to Kelleys Island, Bird Banding demonstration, Tour of Glacial Grooves to discover these unique geological formations and to the East Quarry to hunt for fossils.

Lunch: Lunch on Kelleys Island

Afternoon: Continuation of field Trip at Kelley's Island. Visit to Ohio Historical Society Petroglyphs. This field trip will be led by experts in geology and natural history from local universities and Kelleys Island. Return to Put-in-Bay by Ferry.

Dinner: On the waterfront.

Evening: Free evening.
