Historic Religious Sites/Touro Synogogue/Quaker Meeting House/Religious Diversity Walking Tour

Breakfast: Breakfast at the hotel.

Morning: Field trip to the Touro Synagogue, for a guided tour of the oldest synagogue in the United States. After we will take another field trip to the Great Friends Quaker Meeting House, which was built in 1699 and is the oldest surviving house of worship in Rhode Island.

Lunch: Lunch at a nearby restaurant.

Afternoon: We will summarize the day and visit a few additional sites with the Religious Diversity Walking tour led by a member of the Newport Historical Society.

Dinner: Dinner at a nearby restataurant.

Evening: This evening we will enjoy a lecture on the mansions of Newport and the families associated with them. This will prepare you for tomorrows field trips to the Breakers and Elms mansions.

Morning: We will take a field trip to the Breakers Mansion where you learn about the Vanderbilt family and their summer cottage with a self-guided audio tour.

Lunch: Lunch on the terrace of the historic carriage house at The Elms Mansion.

Afternoon: Tour the Elms Mansion with a self-guided audio tour and explore the summer residence of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Julius Berwind of Philadelphia and New York.

Dinner: Dinner at the hotel.

Evening: Lecture on the Architecture and Decor of the Gilded Age. Learn about the styles that made this era so grand - Italianate, Renaissance Revival, Beaux Arts and more!

Audio tours of the Rosecliff and Marblehouse mansions/Free Time to explore Newport

Breakfast: Breakfast at the hotel.

Morning: Enjoy a guided tour of Rosecliff, the mansion that became the setting for many of Newport's most lavish parties and was the location of many films including, The Great Gatsby, True Lies and Amistad.

Lunch: Lunch at a nearby restaurant.

Afternoon: In the afternoon, discover what Newport was like before the Mansions were built. Listen to lecture on Colonial Newport and go on a guided tour of the Colony House, built in 1739.

Dinner: Enjoy local dinner on your own.

Evening: Free time to the explore the area on your own.

International Tennis Hall of Fame/Guided exploration of the International Yacht Restoration School

Morning: Delve into Newport's sporting culture on a field trip to the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

Afternoon: Fieldtrip to the International Yacht Restoration School. Focoused on preparing students to enter and excel in all aspects of modern boatbuilding, the IYRS is home to important restoration projects and accompanying exhibitions that draw visitors from around the world.
