Afternoon:
REGISTRATION: After you have your room assignment, come over to the Road Scholar desk in the lobby to register with the program staff, pick up your arrival packet containing your name tag and up-to-date schedule, and other important information. Bike NYC is a new Road Scholar "Flex" program. It is different from other programs with more opportunities for you to dine out and explore on your own. Several meals have been excluded from the program cost and you will have substantial free time for personal independent exploration. Please be aware that program activities and scheduled times could change due to local circumstances. In the event of changes, we will alert you as quickly as possible. Thank you for your understanding.
Dinner:
Enjoy views of downtown New York City including the reflecting pools of the 9/11 Memorial, Freedom Tower, Manhattan’s harbor and the Verrazano Bridge while eating dinner at the hotel rooftop restaurant
Evening:
ORIENTATION: We'll have an informative overview of the program plus an opportunity to meet your fellow participants during an introductory get-acquainted session. We'll review the updated schedule, cover responsibilities, safety guidelines, emergency procedures, and answer any questions you may have. (If you arrive late, please pick up your packet at the hotel front desk.)

- Cloisters Museum/Cycling the Hudson River Greenway/Intrepid Sea. Air...

Breakfast:

Morning:
Following the Cloisters, the group will bike up their bicycles and helmets and cycle along the car-free Hudson River Greenway. You will ride through Riverside Park, past tennis courts, marinas, and ending at Pier 84.
Morning:
Enjoy a visit to the Cloisters Museum, the branch of The Metropolitan Museum of Art devoted to the art and architecture of medieval Europe. The museum was assembled from architectural elements, both domestic and religious, that date from the twelfth through the fifteenth century.
Lunch:
Enjoy a picnic lunch at Pier 84.
Afternoon:
Enjoy of a guided of the Intrepid during its 30th Anniversary year. Following the visit, continue to cycle along the Hudson River Greenway to Battery Park. Along the way, view famous sights such as the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Also, experience some on NYC's most famous nieghborhoods-Chelsea, Greenwich Village and Battery Park City.
Dinner:
After you arrive at Battery Park, you are free to enjoy the evening and dinner on your own. Local restaurant recommendations will be provided.

Day Three: Saturday, June 22
- 9/11 Memorial Visit/Cycling Central Park
Breakfast:

Morning:
The group will begin the day by with a moving experience at the 9/11 Memorial Museum, located next to the hotel. The National September 11 Memorial Museum serves as the principal institution for examining the implications of the events of 9/11, documenting the impact of those events and exploring the continuing significance of September 11, 2001. Following this visit, the group will take the Subway to Columbus Circle to begin their time in Central Park.
Lunch:
Enjoy lunch at Le Pain Quotidien, while listening to a Central Park historian give a lecture on the fascinating timeline of the Park.
Afternoon:
Once the group has finished cycling through Central Park, participants will have free time to explore the area on their own. They will have the opportunity to visit The Met or the nearby Guggenheim.
Afternoon:
The group will spend the afternoon cycling around Central Park. Stops will include The Mall/Literary Walk, Bethesda Fountain, the Met/Cleopatra's Needle, Shakespeare Garden/Marionette Theater/Belvedere Castle, Strawberry Fields.
Dinner:
Participants will have a chance to enjoy dinner on their own and experience New York's world-class dining.

Day Four: Sunday, June 23
- Cycling along the Brooklyn Bridge and New York Harbor
Breakfast:
At Hotel
Morning:
The group will begin cycling at Battery Park. You will cycle through downtown to City Hall and across the Brooklyn Bridge. You will be able to stop mid-bridge for a perfect picture opportunity. Along the way you will see Bowling Green, Wall Street, City Hall Plaza, and enjoy incredible views of Manhattan from the Brooklyn Bridge.
Lunch:
You will end your morning ride at the Brooklyn Bridge park, where you will enjoy lunch at one of the local restaurants.
Afternoon:
Continue cycling through some of through Dumbo and other Brooklyn neighborhoods, as well as along New York Harbor. Enjoy the Brooklyn Heights Promenade, views of Governors Island, and all of New York Harbor. Once you are done cycling for the day, you will have the opportunity to take a ride on the NY Water Taxi, where it will take you close by Brooklyn Bridge, over to South Street Seaport, around southern tip of Manhattan and close to the Statue of Liberty, then up the Hudson to Pier 84.

Morning:
Enjoy a morning lecture at Battery Park. You will then have the opportunity to take advantage of cycling on your own throughout the city. There are various locations where you can pick up drop off your bicycle and guides will be available to recommend routes for you. The hotel will be able to store your luggage for you if you would like ride all day.
