Arrive To: Check in to hotel room, then come to our meeting room (posted on sign in lobby) any time between 4:00-5:00 PM to pick up program materials and name tag.

Afternoon: Enjoy a hosted reception at 5:00 PM. Between 5:30-6:00 pm we'll discuss the week's agenda and answer any questions.

Dinner: Dinner in hotel dining room or meeting room at 6:00 PM.

Evening: Meet the other program participants, then view a video demonstrating glassmaking techniques and equipment which will help prepare us for making glass tomorrow at Pratt School of Fine Arts..

Buffet breakfast/Glass-making workshop/cafe lunch/ Pike Place Market/Seattle Snapshot

Breakfast: Buffet breakfast in the hotel's restaurant includes fresh fruit, assorted juices, cold/hot cereals, scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage and ham, pancakes, yogurt, breakfast breads, toast station, coffee/decaf/tea/milk.

Morning: After a short talk in our meeting room on the history of the Pike Place Market, travel to the Pratt Fine Arts Center to see a demonstration of many glass-blowing techniques. Then, blow your own globe or small bowl. Also work in the warm glass shop to make a bead or icicle.

Lunch: Enjoy a multi-course lunch in a popular seafood restaurant on the end of a pier, watching boats and ferries pass by.

Afternoon: Take a guided walk behind the scenes of the bustling Pike Place Market, then have time to explore on your own.

Dinner: Dinner in our meeting room.

Evening: Hear about Seattle's history, economy,politics, neighborhoods and more.

Buffet breakfast/Pilchuck Glass School visit/Lunch at Pilchuck/Studio visit/City tour/Dinner/Videos of master glass artists

Breakfast: Breakfast in the hotel's restaurant. See Day Two for breakfast menu.

Morning: Travel by coach to Pilchuck Glass School north of Seattle. Take a guided tour of the hot shop, warm shop, casting shop and other working areas as well as the store selling Pilchuck merchandise--hats, shirts, art books and more. Visit with artists in all these areas; ask about their inspirations, techniques and backgrounds. Take a seat in the hot shop to watch as a well-known artist and his/her team create the centerpieces for the fund-raising auction in October. Chat with the artists, ask questions, enjoy the beautiful setting.

Lunch: Join the artists for lunch in the dining room of Pilchuck'rs great log lodge and take in the stunning view of the San Juan Islands.

Afternoon: As we return from Pilchuck, stop to visit the studio of a major glass artist. With whatever time remains of our afternoon, we'll take a driving tour of Seattle neighborhoods and landmarks.

Dinner: Dinner in our meeting room.

Evening: View videos on Chihuly and other glassmakers, showing the latest exhibitions by these artists.

Morning: Learn from a respected curator about the growth of studio glass in the Pacific Northwest, then stroll through downtown galleries full of beautiful handmade glass.

Lunch: Lunch downtown today at the Seattle Art Museum, Pike Place Market or another location of your choosing.

Afternoon: Free afternoon--no program activities scheduled.

Dinner: On your own for dinner this evening. There are many excellent restaurants very close to the hotel as well as in the hotel itself. Restaurant recommendations will be provided.

Day Five: Thursday, May 16 - Buffet breakfast/Union Station; Tacoma Art Museum...
Buffet breakfast/Union Station; Tacoma Art Museum/Dinner at a nearby restaurant

Breakfast: Breakfast in our meeting room.

Morning: Ride a chartered coach less than one hour south to Tacoma to visit the Tacoma Art Museum to see early Chihuly pieces and the other Museum exhibits. See a contemporary approach to glass at the lovely Hotel Murano, where each floor features a different artist's work. Learn about the Chihuly work in the beautifully-restored Union Station.

Lunch: Lunch in a casual, tasty downtown cafe.

Afternoon: Hang out in the Museum of Glass' hot shop to see what today's visiting glass artist is creating, then tour the exhibits with a docent, theater, gift shop and the fine glass art gallery next door to the Museum.

Dinner: Tonight's dinner will be at a popular restaurant near our hotel.

Evening: No time for evening activity after our leisurely dinner.

Day Six: Friday, May 17 - Space Needle film/Space Needle and Chihuly Garden...
Breakfast: Breakfast in the hotel's restaurant.

Morning: See a film made in 1962 about the construction of the Space Needle. Ride the monorail to the Seattle Center, then, in a glass-fronted elevator, zip to the top of Seattle's landmark Space Needle for a look at the Puget Sound area. Mountains, lakes and the Sound itself unroll at your feet. There's even a Starbucks up there in case you'd like a coffee break. Then walk next door to see the stunning new Chihuly Garden & Glass exhibit. Stay as long as you like or return to the hotel with the group. Bon Voyage!
