Begin the morning by reviewing the case and establish rules of criminal law. Take a short refreshment break and then continue with the second lecture. Learn how the 911 system works and what happens when our crime is reported. The Education Director at Pinellas County 911 Communications will be our speaker.

With our retired Chief of Police officer, Rick Kistner, learn how the police respond to the scene and the steps they take to secure the area for the forensics team.

Take a short refreshment break and then our forensic specialist David Brumfield will take us through the details of investigating our crime scene. Learn about the latest in DNA testing, fingerprint identification, the importance of fiber samples, and more.

What is a Medical Examiner? Why is an investigation necessary? What happens during an investigation? Answers to these and other questions as a member of the Pinellas County Medical Examiner's Office leads us through this case. After a short break, head downtown for a field trip a local area museum

What does a court reporter do? Why is s/he there? When is it necessary to have a court reporter? What is that strange machine s/he uses? Learn from our trained court reporter. Take a short refreshment break. Spend the second part of the morning with Judge Robert Beach. He will examine another side of the judicial system - the role of the jury - preparing you for your part of this trial.

Spend the morning with a Pinellas County State Attorney as s/he leads you through the State Attorney Office's plan for prosecuting this case. Along the way, learn about the arraignment, charges, pleadings, discovery, evidence, jury selection, how the prosecutors work with the police and more.

Afternoon:
Spend the afternoon with our defense attorney as s/he mounts the defense for the accused. Learn his/her game plan.

Take a break from the program with an evening of musical entertainment from a local musical artist

This morning, you will be a part of the judicial system. The group will be divided into smaller juries and you will be sequestered for deliberation. Then, having chosen a fore-person for each group, the decision will be presented - guilty or not guilty.
