Afternoon: Welcome by the University of South Alabama staff. Orientation for the conference center, schedule of activities, including information about field trips, are handled at this time. Questions are welcomed. (*Please note: schedule is subject to change based on weather and instructor availability.)

Dinner: Dinner served in the conference center dining room.

Evening: After dinner, we will have introductions and answer additional questions about the program, the conference center and the area. Evening ends by 8:30 PM.

Morning: Explore the origins of American fiddlin’, a different way of playing the violin. Learn how this instrument has produced beautiful ethnic and folk music from the 1600's to present day. Discover the use of this four stringed wooden instrument in the United States and Canada through styles such as Cajun, Bluegrass, Western, and others. Enjoy your instructor’s performances and demonstrations as you take in the sounds of beautiful melodies. Spend a class with a local historian! Learn about Mobile Bay and its explorations by the Spanish, French, and British. Trace the history of Fort Morgan and its role in the War of 1812, WWI, and WWII. From history buff to conservative listener, this segment is guaranteed to impress!

Afternoon: Explore the origins of American fiddlin’, a different way of playing the violin. Learn how this instrument has produced beautiful ethnic and folk music from the 1600's to present day. Discover the use of this four stringed wooden instrument in the United States and Canada through styles such as Cajun, Bluegrass, Western, and others. Enjoy your instructor’s performances and demonstrations as you take in the sounds of beautiful melodies.

Evening: What makes someone decide to be a boat captain? What makes them decide to build a 72' wooden schooner? Enjoy these tales and more with the captain of the Joshua. Laugh along with the many sea adventures and stories that this colorful captain will share with you.

Field trip today Discover historic Museum homes, Architecture class and lunch at a local seafood restaurant/Breakfast and Dinner served in the dining room.

Morning: Enjoy a class with an architectural historian. Learn about Mobile’s architecture in discussions surrounding 18th and 19th century styles including bungalow, Creole, Antebellum, Victorian, and Italianate. Topics may include churches, homes, and commercial buildings. Discover how details followed individual tastes and trends of the time. Visit the Richard’s DAR House, furnished and administered by the Daughters of the American Revolution as a Period House-Museum. Built in 1860, this handsome historic home, a Town House of the Italianate style, tells in superb architectural detail of fashionable life during Mobile’s affluent ante-bellum days. The House is famous for its iron lace that lavishly decorates the front façade. Enjoy tea and cookies as you experience Mobile’s true Southern hospitality.

Lunch: Lunch is served at a unique local seafood restaurant that has been serving seafood dishes to the Gulf Coast for over 70 years. Known far and wide for its "Oyster—fried, stewed or nude," Wintzell's Oyster House was founded in 1938 by Oliver Wintzell. You will enjoy the atmosphere and of course the food.

Afternoon: Take a field trip to the Conde Charlotte Museum home, Mobile's first official jail, this Federal-style home was built in 1822 and features period rooms containing French, British, Spanish, Confederate, and American furnishings and decor.

Dinner: Dinner served family style in conference center dining room.

Evening: Learn about the history of Beckwith Conference Center. From humble beginnings to squatters and hurricanes, explore the interesting history of this Episcopal Camp and Conference Center.

Class on Fairhope and Field trip to explore the city , Afternoon Sail in Mobile Bay/ Evening class/ Meals served in the dining room.

Morning: Become a part of Fairhope, a small Southern city know for its lovely parks, moss-draped live oaks, and charming panoramic views of Mobile Bay. Discover how artists, writers, and craftsmen have found this storybook city to be an inspiring haven for their work and creativity. In this class, you will get a taste of the rich history and heritage that makes Fairhope one of the top three Southern towns in Southern Livings Reader Choice Awards. Nest take a tour of Fairhope, unique Utopian community. Don't miss the beautiful floral exhibits on each downtown street corner.

Afternoon: Hoist the sail, man the wheel or trim the sheets while enjoying a private sail aboard a 72' wooden schooner. Watch for dolphins and sea and shore birds. View historic Middle Bay Lighthouse as you cruise Mobile Bay, explored by the Spanish, French, and British.

Evening: Bring your camera tonight. You will meet 6 young ladies chosen to be ambassadors of the area. Admire their antebellum inspired dresses as you learn about their organization and duties as a Dogwood Trail Maid.

Field trip to Five Rivers with Pontoon boat ride/Free afternoon/ Evening class/ All meals served in the dining room.

Morning: Board the Delta Explorer for a trip into Mobile's Delta. Delight in this exploration, with a guide, into the wildlife, flora, fauna, and history of this diverse ecosystem that is so vital to the coastal environment.

Lunch: Lunch served in the Conference Center dinning room

Afternoon: Take this afternoon to explore the local hot spots on your own. In picturesque downtown Fairhope, just up the hill from the bay, you'll find shops, boutiques, cafés, art galleries and gift shops galore. The beaches, a short drive south, provide opportunities for souvenir shopping, beach combing, and relaxation! Make a trip to the causeway to sample the area’s finest cuisine – fresh gulf seafood. While you’re there, don’t miss the USS Alabama Battleship. (Free Afternoon planned unless changes with venders or instructors.)
