Day Two: Tuesday, July 23 - Surfing & Outrigger Canoe Wave Riding/Waikiki Aquarium 
Note: Approximate 15 - 20 minute walk along Waikiki Beach to Aquarium on flat, sidewalks. 10 minute walk to beach for surfing.

Breakfast: Breakfast Buffet - Ilima Cafe

Morning: Enjoy instruction from Waikiki's famous "beachboys" in popular local beach activities including surfing, outrigger canoe wave-riding, and optional boogie boarding. No experience necessary or expected - great fun for grandparent and grandchild alike!

Lunch: Return to the hotel for lunch.

Afternoon: First we'll have a presentation on Hawai`i’s Coral Reefs at the hotel before walking over, along beautiful Waikiki Beach, the Waikiki Aquarium. As “Hawaii’s Window on the Sea,” the Aquarium features exhibits on Hawaiian and South Pacific Marine Communities, Fisheries & Conservation, Sharks, Diversity & Adaptation, Corals, and Monk Seals!

Dinner: Dinner- Cheeseburger in Paradise. A great place for a burger right on Kalakaua Avenue!

Day Three: Wednesday, July 24 - Submarine Adventure/Bishop Museum/Lava Making Demonstration 
Breakfast: Breakfast Buffet - Ilima Cafe

Morning: Ride an open-air trolley through Waikiki to our underwater adventure. Explore the underwater ocean world off Waikiki in a passenger submarine that will dive up to 100 feet where the marine environment, including tropical fish, sea turtles, sharks, reefs, sunken ships, and other underwater artifacts will be seen (as the animals are in their natural habitat, what you will see varies from trip to trip). Continue on to Bishop Museum. Designated the State Museum of Natural and Cultural History, Bishop Museum is dedicated to telling the story of Hawaii and its place in the Pacific. After a docent-guided visit of the museum, there will be time for lunch.

Lunch: At the Bishop Museum.

Afternoon: While at the Bishop Museum's Science Center, see a demonstration of lava making. Head back to the hotel's swimming pool for snorkeling instruction and practice.

Dinner: Ilima Café- lobby level

Evening: Optional Local Evening Activity: Enjoy a unique local “tradition”, the Honolulu Zoo’s Summer Concert Series featuring a Hawaiian band.

Day Four: Thursday, July 25 - USS Arizona Memorial/ Free Afternoon 
Breakfast: Breakfast Buffet - Ilima Cafe

Morning: Field Trip: USS Arizona Memorial National Historic Park (please note that for security reasons no purses or bags of any sort, including camera bags, may be taken to the Arizona Memorial). View historical film in the theater, board the launch for a ride across Pearl Harbor to the USS Arizona Memorial, explore the museum and book shop.

Lunch: Lunch is on your own for a chance to explore and choose from the variety of eateries.

Afternoon: Free afternoon to explore on your own. Suggestions for optional activities include: Diamond Head Hike- Hike up famous Diamond Head (Leahi) culminating with a fabulous view of the entire southwest portion of the island. (Wear sturdy shoes, sunscreen and bring water bottle, hat, rain gear, camera, etc.) - (Hike - 1.5 miles, elevation gain - 560 ft.) Please note: the park entrance closes at 4:30 pm.

Morning: Depart on bus for the North Shore via the East side of the island. Enroute, we will pass Diamond Head, Halona Blowhole, and breathtaking views. Snorkel at Kaiona Beach, which is located at the south end of Waimanalo Bay on O`ahu’s windward (eastern) coast. Showers and bathroom with changing room are available

Lunch: Picnic lunch at the beach

Afternoon: Located in the town of Laie, the Polynesian Cultural Center showcases the cultures of Polynesia, including Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, Tahiti, the Marquesas, New Zealand, Rapa Nui (Easter Island), and Hawaii. You will have free time to walk around (or take the canoes) and explore the different Polynesian villages.

Dinner: Experience a taste of local cuisine at this buffet dinner at the Polynesian Cultural Center.

Evening: Attend the Polynesian Cultural Center's spectacular evening show - “Ha: the Breath of Life” for a look at dance and music of Polynesia.

Afternoon: Depart the hotel for Honolulu International Airport. Take a short flight to Kona and arrive at hotel for check in.

Day Seven: Sunday, July 28 - Snorkeling & Tidepool Exploration 
Breakfast: At the hotel.

Morning: Start your day with a class that introduces you to the marine environment of Kona and the Big Island of Hawaii. Next, embark on a guided exploration of tidepools and snorkeling at Kahaluu Bay, one of the best snorkeling and swimming spots near Kailua-Kona. Sea turtles frequently swim here and often are up close with snorkelers. Please do not touch the turtles as they are protected and you may be fined.

Lunch: Lunch on own

Afternoon: Return to the hotel for a free afternoon to relax or explore the Kona area. There are historic sites of interest, shops, restaurants and more. A farmer's market is open most days of the week.

Breakfast: Breakfast at the hotel

Morning: Depart on a catamaran for a remote bay along the Kohala coast. Learn about the marine life while snorkeling - weather permitting.

Lunch: Deli-sandwich lunch aboard the catamaran.

Afternoon: Return to shore, take some time to shower and clean up. Depart north to Hawi for a unique cultural experience.

Dinner: This afternoon the group will experience a backyard luau with a local family. Learn about preparation and cooking in an imu for a luau.

Evening: This traditional cultural event includes local stories, imu (underground oven) preparation and cooking, local plant life, hula, music, and other cultural activities. Please understand that these types of experiences are a rare treat and may not be possible at the time the group visits.

Hulihee PalaceBuilt in 1838 by Governor John Adams Kuakini, Hulihee Palace remained until 1916 a retreat and vacation spa for Hawaiian royalty. The Palace is now a museum, displaying historical treasures from Hawaii's past including a collection of former Hawaiian royalty furniture and effects, as well as ancient artifacts. Kona Coffee Plantation and Factory TourAlmost everyone has heard about the magnificent taste of hand-picked Kona coffee. Some of the best coffee in the world is grown on a narrow strip of land in the mountain slopes above Kailua-Kona. Nearly 600 farms share space in this 20-mile-long, 2-mile-wide coffee-rich corridor. Island Sun Coffee or Greenwell Farms are a couple of farms that offer a plantation tour and tasting for a unique sightseeing and educational experience.

Diamond HeadDiamond Head State Monument is a true gem on Oahu. Actually named Leahi by Hawaiians, it received its more well known name in the late 1700’s when British seamen saw calcite crystals sparkling in the sunshine and thought they had found diamonds. A hike to the top of Diamond Head takes about an hour over a well-worn path. The summit offers a spectacular 365-degree view of Oahu and is a must trip for photography enthusiasts. Discover Historic HonoluluLocated in the heart of Honolulu you'll find many of Hawaii's most historic buildings including the Hiilani Palace home to Hawaii's last monarchs and the only palace on U.S. soil. You'll also want to visit the Hawaii State Capitol, the Kamehameha I Statue, Kawaiahao Church -the first Christian church in Hawaii, the Mission Houses Museum and the Old Federal Building. Hanauma BayHanauma Bay Nature Preserve is one of the most spectacular natural resources in Hawaii and is dedicated to safeguarding the fragile marine life in the Bay. It is one of the more popular recreational swimming, snorkeling and picnicking areas on O`ahu. The bay itself is legally designated as a State Underwater Park and is the first Marine Life Conservation District in the State. 7455 Kalaniana`ole Highway. Honolulu ZooThe Honolulu Zoo covers 42 lush, shady acres at the Diamond Head end of Waikîkî. It features some special exhibits such as the Nene (the Hawai`i state bird), native Hawaiian forest birds, and the highlight of the zoo, the Kabuni Reserve. The African savanna covers 12-acres where animals roam freely behind disguised barriers in 30 different habitats. The zoo is located near Kapiolani Park at the corner of Kapahulu and Kalakaua Avenue. Shop in Waikiki and in the Greater Honolulu AreaWaikiki is a great place to shop and offers prestigious retailers such as Tiffany & Co., Chanel, Gucci and Louis Vuitton as well as more modest stores such as the ever-present ABC Stores and the world-famous International Market Place. The Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center contains 150 stores and restaurants on four levels. Ala Moana Shopping Center, located in the heart of Honolulu, is one of the largest open-air shopping centers in the world with more than 200 stores to meet your every need. The Center is recognized as having the flagship stores for most major international, national and local retailers. Other nearby malls in Honolulu to shop at include Aloha Tower Marketplace; Ward Warehouse and Ward Center, across from Fisherman’s Wharf; and Kahala Mall in Kahala.
Waikiki at NightAt night Waikiki is an exuberant world of shops, bistros and neon lights, alive with people, and complete with amusing street entertainers. Often heralded as the ambassadors of aloha, these musicians, singers, mimes, drummers, and a myriad of other performers give Waikiki a local color and ambience found nowhere else in the Hawaiian Islands. Street performers start about 8pm and ends about 10pm.
