After you have your room assignment, come over to the Road Scholar desk and pick up your arrival packet containing your name tag and the most up-to-date program schedule that we'll review during orientation this evening. You'll have some free time to relax before we meet for dinner.Dinner: Dinner is at 6:00pm. Gourmet vegetarian meals are one of the highlights of your time with us. We are committed to right livelihood and sustainability, providing 100% vegetarian cuisine prepared fresh daily by our team of dedicated chefs using organic produce as much as we can. Our salad, vegetables, fruits, eggs, milk, and soy products are all organic, and most of our spices and grains are organic as well. We care about the environment and your health.Evening: ORIENTATION: Begins at 7:00pm. In addition to introductions of participants and staff, we'll have an overview of the program ahead and review the up-to-date schedule, responsibilities, safety guidelines, emergency procedures, and any other administrative issues. Please be aware that local circumstances may require adjusting program elements. In the event of changes, we will notify you as quickly as possible. We appreciate your understanding.

MEDITATION CLASS: Meditation for inner harmony including presentation and discussion. The emphasis will be on experience using meditation to actually bring life enhancing changes in our thoughts and feelings.Lunch: Lunch in the dining room.Afternoon: CLASS: Sketching and Painting Techniques, for relaxation and to capture the natural environment.
CLASS: The Ancient Art of Feng Shui. We continue the exploration of interior design, psychology, color theory and more to create a healthy flow of natural energy in your surroundings.Dinner: Dinner in the dining room.Evening: FILM EVENING: We'll watch a documentary film on Qigong (Chi Kung) in the 21st Century followed by a discussion.Lodging: Land of Medicine BuddhaMeals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
There will be a relaxing break following the class.
MEDITATION: After a short meditation, you’ll learn to draw a Buddha image according to traditional Tibetan practice using a grid, a foundation of Tibetan art. The act of creating the image is a meditation in itself.Lunch: Lunch in the dining room.Afternoon: FREE TIME: Walk, read, sketch, enjoy a massage or sauna, or visit nearby Capitola, a beach village.
CLASS: We’ll conclude the afternoon with further examination of the Ancient Art of Feng Shui.Dinner: Dinner in the dining room.Evening: CLASS: Learn about the symbolism of Tibetan art, including a sand mandala, followed by a guided exploration of art works in the facilities at Land of Medicine Buddha.Lodging: Land of Medicine BuddhaMeals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
There will be a restful break before the next class.
CLASS: The Ancient Art of Feng Shui. By now you know that Feng Shui is both an art and a science, a complex body of knowledge that reveals how to balance the energies of any given space for health and harmony.Lunch: Lunch in the dining room.Afternoon: FREE TIME: Time to pursue your personal interests, deepen your meditations, get out into nature, whatever suits your spirit best.
CLASS: We conclude the afternoon with further work on Sketching and Painting Techniques, for relaxation and to capture the natural environment.Dinner: Dinner in the dining room.Evening: MUSIC EVENING: Music has the capacity to express the soul’s deepest feelings and to lift our minds. The teachings of the Buddha mention music on many occasions.Lodging: Land of Medicine BuddhaMeals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
The class will be followed by a relaxing break.
MEDITATION: Meditation for inner harmony and using meditation to bring life enhancing changes in our thoughts feelings, with lecture and discussion.Lunch: Check out time is 11 AM. The program concludes with lunch.
