The CALL program has a wide array of interesting science courses available to their members. This past summer they took part in the following:

Archaeology and Paleontology Series – Three Classes
1. Examples of Historic Archaeology n Pennsylvania – A brief overview of the types of artifacts and information found at historic archaeological sites, with examples of some excavations.

2. Ice Age Fossils of Central Pennsylvania – The instructor will discuss the Ice Age scene in terms of the animals and their environment in this area about 10,000 years ago.

3. Prehistoric Centre Country – This presentation will discuss information about human cultures that were present in Central Pennsylvania beginning about 12,000 years ago.

DNA in Genealogy – Some of the newly developed DNA techniques for helping family historians solve problems in genealogy will be discussed.

Basic Astronomy: Stargazing with Telescopes – In this hands-on course, participants will learn to set up and use small telescopes, which will look at a variety of astronomical sources, such as nebulae, galaxies, and planets.
