Mission:
MSUS is an organization that provides learning opportunities for older adults in the greater Mankato area.

GOAL 1
To maintain MSUS as a viable organization in the community.
A. Review the operational structure of MSUS to assure that it is appropriate to and effective for current     organizational needs.
B. Develop a system for involving more members in the day to day operation of the organization.
C. Devise a method for better communication and coordination between and among committees.
D. Develop a mechanism to receive legacies, memorial gifts or other contributions.
E. Examine the cost/benefit of (whether we can better utilize) our continuing membership in the Elderhostel Network.

GOAL 2
To encourage a diverse membership in the organization
A. Review, analyze and update membership list annually.
B. Establish a database of members’ skills, interests and needs.
C. Provide all new members with the MSUS informational brochure.
D. Offer a free introductory group for prospective members every fall describing MSUS activities.
E. Create an avenue for members to communicate with one another.

GOAL 3
To expand public awareness of MSUS
A. Form a Public Relations Committee.
B. Revise and expand the MSUS informational brochure.
C. Publicize MSUS curriculum and activities through regional media (i.e newspaper, magazine, radio and TV).
D. Create a “Traveling Exhibit” which promotes MSUS at functions attended by current and potential members.
E. Facilitate a community clearinghouse for organizations offering educational programs and activities for older adults.

GOAL 4
To assure that programming reflects a broad, high quality educational focus of interest to older adults.
A. Provide courses and programs that are stimulating and/or challenging.
B. Devise a method for members to share ideas about curriculum, special events and other activities.
C. Utilize our affiliation with the Elderhostel Institute Network for new programming ideas.
D. Encourage members to come forward to teach courses
E. Balance committee membership to reflect the age span within the organization.
