Caregiver Grants

What is a Caregiver Grant?

The Caregiver Grant is a Road Scholar tuition credit of up to $2,000 for adults 50 and older who devote themselves as the primary, unpaid family caregiver for an ill or disabled loved one. The Caregiver Grant is applied directly toward the cost of one of our immersive learning adventures in the United States or Canada. The warm, welcoming and friendly nature of our learning adventures can provide a much-needed respite from the emotional and physical demands of being a caregiver.

Understanding that the journey of caregiving and healing continues even after loss, we also warmly welcome caregivers to apply for up to two years after their loved one has passed.

Ultimately, this life-changing opportunity provides a much-needed respite, allowing caregivers to step away, intellectually recharge and find renewed inspiration within a welcoming community of lifelong learners.

How to Apply

Please complete one application per person. In order to be reviewed by the Financial Assistance Committee, all parts of the application must be complete, including the program number and date for which you are applying. Please answer the questions thoughtfully and thoroughly. Your answers will be used to determine eligibility. Any incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

Please use the checklist at the end of the application to ensure that your submission is complete and eligible. We cannot review an application for a program with a start date of less than eight (8) weeks in the future, a program that has passed the final payment date, a sold-out program or for an enrollment that has already been paid in full.

What happens after I apply?

The review of an application takes 4-6 weeks once it has been received by the committee; applications are reviewed in the order that they are received. Therefore, please ensure that you are submitting this application early enough to allow time to enroll and make your travel arrangements after you receive your award letter. We recommend that you apply at least three months before your selected program start date.
