Q: Why do you choose to learn with Road Scholar?
A:
It is a great way to combine traveling with learning. I have found all the instructors to be very
well-informed, interesting and compassionate to the needs and interests of the participants.
Q: What was your first Road Scholar program?
A:
Our first program was in July 1995 in Calgary, Alberta, and included cycling, drying food and learning
about the flowers in Calgary. From there we went on a hiking program through the Golden Alpine Center on
the Esplanade Range.
Q: We offer 6,500 learning adventures in all 50 states and 150 countries around the world. If you could pick just one of those programs, what would it be? Why that one? Why does that program speak to you?
A:
One that I really want to go on is a small boat trip cruising the fjords and coast line of Norway, and into the Arctic Circle - the scenery looks marvelous.
Q: Describe your favorite memory from a Road Scholar program.
A:
In the Galápagos - it was absolutely fabulous - we were in our Zodiacs on our way back to the ship and watched the Blue-Footed Boobies' courtship dance and saw them dive into the water with the setting sun behind them.
Q: What's the most interesting thing you've learned on a Road Scholar program?
A:
Again, it would be in the Galápagos, regarding evolution and the conservation programs throughout the Islands to preserve all the forms of wildlife.
Q: Outside of Road Scholar programs, how do you like to challenge your mind?
A:
Through a book club and classes through our local Elder College program.
Q: Do you support Road Scholar programs with donations? If you do, why do you choose to donate?
A:
To help other people take advantage of the wonderful programs.
