The Spirit of Road Scholar

Meet Road Scholar participant Taffie Bentley

Q: Why do you choose to learn with Road Scholar?
A: It's a safe way to go to and learn about different places in the world, as well as to photograph and share them with my family and friends.

Q: What was your first Road Scholar program?
A: Program #18182, Capturing the Maine Coast With Digital Photography.

Q: And your most recent?
A: Program #14191, Photo Shoots in Utah's Five National Parks. It was absolutely beautiful. I've been sharing my photos with everyone – I've given a slide show and even have photos entered in a contest. People keep telling me I should be a spokesperson for Road Scholar because I can't stop talking about their programs.

Q: We offer 5,500 learning adventures in all 50 states and 150 countries around the world. If you could pick just one of those programs, what would it be? Why that one? Why does that program speak to you?
A: I would choose a program in Costa Rica. From all the photos I've seen it looks so unspoiled and beautiful and I think I could get some really good pictures of my own there.

Q: Describe your favorite memory from a Road Scholar program.
A: Moments that have stuck with me are those spent talking and laughing with new friends.

Q: Outside of Road Scholar programs, how do you like to challenge your mind?
A: I sing and sometimes play keyboard with a group of women, and I'm also the storyteller for our group.
