The Spirit of Road Scholar

Read our Q&A with Dorinda Galbraith for insight into what Road Scholar means to her.

Q: Why do you choose to learn with Road Scholar?
A: I like Road Scholar because I can safely travel with a group I know will be interested in learning. My meals, lodging and transportation and activities will all be arranged for me. I am single, and I love learning, adventure and meeting new people!

Q: What was your first Road Scholar program?
A:I went to Glacier National Park last August and hiked. It was great!

Q: We offer 5,500 learning adventures in all 50 states and 150 countries around the world. If you could pick just one of those programs, what would it be? Why that one?
A:My next two places I would like to go are Portugal and Prague. I'm also interested in hiking in Nova Scotia. I like to be active. The program you have for this sounds wonderful. My roots go back to Eastern Europe, so Prague, Budapest and and Vienna pull me.

Q: Describe your favorite memory from a Road Scholar program.
A: I made a friend for life in Glacier. He was on his 68th Road Scholar program and I was on my first.

Q: What’s the most interesting thing you’ve learned on an Road Scholar program?
A: I found the geology of the Glacier Park area fascinating, with its 1.5 billion-year-old mud from an ancient prehistoric lake.

Q: Outside of Road Scholar programs, how do you like to challenge your mind?
A: I listen to recorded books on my drives to Maine I take many courses every year on osteopathic manual therapies and study cadavers. I am a holistic physical manual therapist.
