We explore Norway's Arctic frontier from the Arctic gateway city Tromso to Spitsbergen in the Svalbard Archipelago. Along the way, we learn about the early settlement of this region and its unique Arctic wildlife, geology, flora and fauna. A special highlight is a Spitsbergen study cruise. Involves getting on/off boats and inflatable dinghies for ship-to-shore transfers and field trips. Terrain on shore is uneven and stony; rough seas are a possibility.
