With near-perfect grape growing conditions, the fertile vineyards of Argentina and Chile currently produce more than one-fifth of all wines sold on the international market. Explore wineries old and new as you learn from experts about the traditional lifestyle of both countries, as well as their folk music, architecture, customs, cuisine and -- of course -- wine.

Days 2–4
Arrival Buenos Aires (Argentina) | 3 nights |
Explore important areas such as Plaza de Mayo, San Telmo, La Boca, Palermo and Recoleta. A lecture in your hotel addresses Argentine traditions, while another introduces Argentine wine regions with a tasting. Throughout your program, sample local vintages with most meals.

Days 5-6
Flight to San Rafael | 2 nights |
A lecture in San Rafael addresses local migration and you enjoy a cooking lesson and a tasting at Viñas del Golf. Visit Valentín Bianchi, which produces one of the country’s finest champagnes.

Days 7-9
Visit a Mendoza olive oil factory and hear from a specialist about Argentina’s wine production in a global context, followed by a field trip to the wine museum at Bodega la Rural. Additional wineries visited include Ruca Malen and Weinert, while lectures address winemaking in Mendoza. Enjoy a light meal and wine tasting with the Antonietti family at their home and boutique winery.

Days 10-12

A lecture introduces local cuisine before hands-on practice with a chef. Learn about Chilean folk traditions and visit the Errazuriz Vineyard. View the Chilean Rodeo Exhibition at Hacienda Rinconada de Los Andes and dine on authentic Chilean barbeque. An expert discusses Chilean music with a lesson in cueca, Chile's national dance.
Lodging: Family-run resort in the Aconcagua Valley.
Days 13-15
Coach to Viña del Mar | 3 nights |
Hear a lecture on Valparaiso, visit it with a guide and take a boat ride around Valparaiso Bay. Visit Pablo Neruda's House and learn about the use of fresh seafood in Chilean cuisine. Explore Vergara Palace and ride around Vina Del Mar in a horse-drawn wagon.
