Learn about the Arch from design to construction; St. Louis Cathedral, with one of the largest mosaic collection in the world (76 years from start to completion); and Missouri’s Botanical Gardens, among the world’s finest in plant display and research. At Forest Park, site of the 1904 World’s Fair, glimpse history and learn why it is still considered “the fair of firsts.” Take field studies into ethnic neighborhoods to appreciate their rich heritage and dine on Irish, Italian, and German foods. Explore the Anheuser-Busch Brewery and see the world-famous Clydesdale horses. Cruise the muddy Mighty Mississippi on a paddlewheel boat to hear and absorb the rich history of the river.
Walking up to 1-2 miles over smooth surfaces and standing up to one hour is required.
Program in association with St. Charles Community College.
St. Louis
Now one of the Midwest's urban centers, this area at the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers was home to Indian cultures well before the French established a trading post in 1764. Site of the 1904 World's Fair, the city today is home to a rich cultural mix including great music, vibrant neighborhoods and the world's largest brewery.
